Hi!

Check to see if the lower thread be tangled. Also, the bobbin could be threaded improperly in the shuttle hook. Rethread the bobbin in the shuttle hook.
How to detangle a thread---

  • When a machine stops operation due to tangled thread, do not turn the pulley by force.
If the pulley is turned by force then, lower thread might not be picked up correctly and stitches might not be formed correctly.

  • If threads get tangled, remove a needle plate and cut the tangled threads by scissors or cutter.
  • Do rate the solution if you find it helpful & useful.

    Thanks
    Rylee

I DO NOT HAVE A MANUAL FOR 8708. I ALSO AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE UPPER THREAD,( PROPER THREADING NEEDED,) IT KEEPS BREAKING, PLEASE HELP. VINCENT

The manual may help (assuming this is your machine):

    Crofton MD 8708 Instruction Manual

The thread will break if the machine is threaded incorrectly. Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the upper thread. Also, set the upper tension to the midway point. This is the standard setting for machines although there may need to be some tweaking to get the tension where you want it.

I am sewing a quilt and my needle is in the right place but it keeps breaking. Please help. Also, the thread break often.

here are something you might check
    upper thread breaks
    1.top tension to tight
2.thread to thick or to fine for needle
    3.needle not inserted correctly
4.thread caught on something-spool pin, tension area
    5.needle damaged
6.needle thread is not threaded properly

    Needle breaks
    wrong size needle for fabric
    wrong foot is attached
    needle clamp screw is loose

also check for lint & pieces of broke needle under the needle plate
also the bobbin case area -take the bobbin & case out & check for pieces of broke needle

here is a tip about needle & thread
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

When I am trying to do an embroidery design, the top thread keeps breaking. What could be the cause of this?

    check your thread tension
check needle could be bent-blunt or damaged
thread could be caught on something
on some sewing machines the thread comes off the thread take up lever

    Two problems : 1. I have a Designer 1. When e

Ok,...both problems are probably related to the same componet, your upper thread tension assembly. It has a sensor which sends the message when the thread is broken. It also would be the culprit for looping. There is not much you can do except look for lint or loose threads in the threading paths around the upper thread tension assembly and remove it if you see some. You could try setting the upper tension to larger number to see if it will help but sooner or later it will need to see a tech.

The threading may be out of the channels. Rethread. Put in a fresh needle. Make sure you are using an embroidery needle and a new one for each new project. You can't use YLI bobbin thread. It stinks. If all this doesn't help, take it in to be checked These work great when there is not thread stuck in the bobbin case and it is threaded properly. If all is well, it will go like gangbusters.

    Thread breaks when embroidering

Try changing threads. If you're not using embroidery thread specifically, the "treatments" they use on different threads can really cause problems.

    Breaking thread

Try adjusting the tension in the "Set" menu. "Tweaking" anything else may end up costing money.
First, make sure the hook area under the bobbin case is free of debris. Try a new bobbin and a new spool of thread with a new needle, full inserted. If the needle threader isn't lining up, the needle may not be in right.

You can't. Believe it or not, it is supposed to be helpful! I know it is annoying though. I have owned my Husky for 10 years and it isn't something you can get rid of.
