Broken adjuster for propane heater

We have a propane heater purchased from Home Depot and it sits on top of a small (grill) type tank. The propane adjuster that controls output has broken (plastic black). How can we get this part replaced?

Lights while holding primer/pilot button then runs out of propane within seconds. If you wait a minute it builds up then does the same thing like the propane tank is empty but it is full.

Turn off the propane tank and disconnect the heater hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the heater hose/regulator to the propane t. Turn the tank valve on very, very slowly until it's completely open again. Now, try lighting the heater. If you are using a 20lb LP grill type tank, that should solve your problem.

Hope that helped.

lhbouchillon,

Yes you will need an inline regulator or the pressure will be too high. Available at any major home building supply store such as Lowes or Home Depot.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

I need a thermocoupler for a model 250A propane space heater. Where can I get it? The heater was working fine and now it only works at about 20% capacity

Thermocouples are available at most propane distributors, however, they "may" require a gasfitting license to sell it to you. You may however, be ablr to find one at Home Depot or another similar type dept store. Thanks, Dana

yes you can but please get a propane gas certified engineer to do it , its really a job to be done by experts , the explosive power of propane is just to dangerous to mess with

Seems like the valve is not opening up fully or the adjustment is out of adjustment. Try adjusting the flame.

Inefficient (big, yellow flame) on wall propane heater, using up propane too fast

A clue to what could be wrong is that you mentioned it took 10 minutes for the pilot to go out. It could be your gas valve. Get a technician in to check your gas pressure both before the gas valve and after. Have them check it as the water heater is running.
