I upgrade RAM on laptop, now runs slower. Running 64-bit WIN 7 OS,

Check BIOS if all RAM is being picked and or set to max on RAM settings.

Upgrading BIOS! If it isn't broken don't fix it. Upgrading is a scapegoat fix, and many manufactures have a disclaimer. "You are on you own, and the likes for a reason. Most solutions are found elsewhere.

However, if you truly need to update read this to help you with the upgrade.

I m trying to upgrade my HP compaq nc6320 RAM MEMORY from 1GB to 4GB, Do i need BIOS upgrade if yes from were i can find the drivers and how can i do it? thanx i am gone wait for respond......

Hi,

As far as I know, the machine supports 4GB of ram, so you purchase the ram modules from a pc parts dealer and install them inside the machine, removing the existing ram, there are 2 slots, so you need 2, 2GB cards.

You do not require any drivers or bios update.

Windows will need to be upgraded to 64Bit version if you wish to use the full capacity. as normal windows is limited to 3-3.75GB

Further questions? let me know.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-212US PC Notebook and i was wondering is there any way i could add more memory to my graphic card. example share memory with my ram?

This will depend on what options you have in the Bios. Some systems will give you a fixed option and some base it off how much memory you have in the system. You Notebook will support 4GB of ram in two 2GG sticks. The link below will show you how to install them.

Also to be able to check the setting you may need to install a Bios update. The link below will take you to the download pages where you can download the Bios update from. Note if you have not ever done a Bios update before you might want to ask a friend to help you that has down one before because if you mess up the Bios update you can brick the computer.

My notebook has 4 gb of memory but the operation system see just 3 gb. I have tried using 64 bits OS but the issue remains. Somebody told me that could be a bios limitation

Your BIOS is limited to 4GB according to Toshiba's specification, so this is not the problem. You're best to check the RAM total in the BIOS (F2 on start up I think) to clarify this rather than your operating system. If it says 4GB in the BIOS, then dont worry too much. Its likely 1GB has probably been reserved for your graphics instead, so not to worry. If it says 3GB in the BIOS and you definitely have put 4GB in, then try a BIOS update

If your board is not supporting the 2gb memory module, it won't make any difference by upgrading the BIOS.

I have toshiba L305-s5907. i have switch from vista to xp. than i have downloaded drivers from toshiba website but after that my laptop became very very slow. When i was using vista at that time it's RAM...

Hi,
The reason that XP is only recognizing 3GB of memory is because the operating system is 32bit (X86), what you need for the OS to recognize 4GB is a 64bit (X64) system, does your laptop support 64bit? if it does then get a 64bit install disk, install that and your system will be able to use the full capacity of the 4GB memory installed.

I upgraded the RAM on Lenovo X200 (745533A) from factory 2GB PC3-8500 to 4GB PC3-8500. Checked the BIOS and recognized the new 4GB memory. The trouble is, after upgrading the RAM, the WIFI stopped working...

Possibly the new sticks are defective. Try this: disable the wireless devices before removing the old memory. Install the new memory and reactivate the wireless devices. Another possibility: mislabeled memory. Can you check the new sticks in another machine? Check online and see if your machine has a BIOS update. If so, you may have to do it. Take all of the precautions when doing this. If youre not comfortable doing a BIOS update, get a service tech involved. Improperly done, youll render your machine inoperable.

I have the same problem, and my problem was that I have installed 4GB ram and that ram modules wasn't accepted with the new bios. So I installed the old modules and it all worked again, downgraded the bios to one version older and installed my 4GB ram modules and it all worked.

Hope that's your problem too.

Acer Aspire 5310 Memory Upgrade

It could be that one of the chips are faulty and/or are not exactly the same model because faulty chips and ones that have confliction can cause chips to not load properly. It could be that the socket for the ram is faulty as well. Usually you can install 4GB of RAM without the need of a BIOS update
Give this a try for the BIOS

Updating BIOS

You need to upgrade your bios.
Heres the link the software.

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5630/bios/Bios%203.23.zip

You will need winzip or winrar to open the zip file just google either if you dont have them you can get them for free.

You then need to open the folder you just uncompressed and you will see another zip file, winflash is in there. it will allow you to flash the bios from within windows, just install it and follow the instructions on your screen
