I bought my son a set of those cobra microtalk walkietalkies for Christmas and we put the batterries in them and on one of them you can talk and here yourself in the other walkie talkie, but when you talk in the other one, it's like talking to a wall. It kind of seems like the microphone that you're talking into is just dead. I've got them opened up and just "looking" to see if anythings loose and comparing the insides of the good and the bad. I've noticed on these 2 big cells or whatever they're called, that there are what looks like magic marker checkmarks like done by a quality check or something. on the one walkie, there's a green checkmark on both of the cells, on the other walkie, there's a green checkmark on the smaller cell, and on the cell that's right next to the button that you press to talk in to it, it has a red checkmark. Do you think that the one was checked and marked "BAD" by a red checkmark, and they put it in anyway? Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.

I would contact Cobra right away & ask them that question. Sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised with their help. I have had Cobra walkies for several years without major problem. I've always had good luck with their tech support. Good luck, I'm sure your son will love these when you get them working.( you can find the contact us on there website)

Cobra microtalk LI 7500 WX

fyi my Cobra microTALK LI7500-WX came out of the box with one of the radios slightly off frequency, limiting range to about 100 ft. I was able to use a counter to fix it. The freq adjust is under the front faceplate that covers and protects the LCD screen, pry it off to expose one tuning pot.

Cobra microTALK PR 3500-2 DX VP 2-Way

The Cobra microTALK PR-3500-2 DX VP Radios are supposed to be equipped with acoustic noise filters that are built in the microphone. This problem could have been caused from the radios getting wet, damaged, or the microphone going bad, the microphone can be replaced if you still have the warranty, but if you want to save money you may wan to get a new set of 2-ways. I suggest the Uniden GMR325-2, these models are inexpensive and have an approximate 5 mile range in good conditions.

Good Luck!

Brand New Cobra microtalk won't work!

Double check against all the instructions - in particular, make sure the batteries are charged according to "before first use" spec, that the volume is turned up, and that the squelch (if fitted and not automatic) is adjusted properly. If it still doesn't work, take it back to Wal-Mart. If the product doesn't work, there's no need for the packaging to be in good condition - it's not as if they'll be needing it to resell the goods to anybody else. A.
