Question about HP OfficeJet 7310 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I am attempting to use my scanner on the HP Officejet 7310 all in one. Every time I press the scan button I get this message: "you need to install or run HP software for this feature". I have been using the scanner for over a year and have never had a problem with it. Twice I have uninstalled and reloaded the printer software from the disk.

is the solution center or hp director installed on the pc? look under add/remove and check if it's included in the list of programs installed. if it is there, look for it's icon on the desktop or click on start, all programs,hp folder,hp director and hp solution center.launch it from there.use it to scan from your computer.check for error messages and let me know.
if it is not installed ,you may need the disk to install it.or go to hp.com and click on support and drivers to download the latest version of the printer software.

My program for Officejet 7310 all in one is installed but whenever I try to scan, I get a message that the software needs to be installed. What do I do?

Try going to Hp soltions for updated drivers. Also windows has it own scanning drivers. Try going to control panel and selecting scanner devices, and go through the installation wizard to install a scaning device, if your scanner is not listed then just click on install new device.

Officejet 7310 will not scan. Get message, must install program. Program is installed and has been re-installed 3 times.

i have the same problem:( i figured a way around it until someone posts the real answer. if you have an application like adobe, you can import photos from inside the app. also, vista gave me a hard time recognizing the scanner(as it seems to do with a lot of things), it won't work if you can't see the scanner in your control panel.

Trouble with Scanner

Hi Elizabeth,
Different post, same message :)
This is a common complaint.. Are you running Vista, by any chance? The all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work fully with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP Pro L7650) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

Hope that helps.
