Gateway sx2850-33 drive flakes out

Hey. I've got a Gateway sx2850-33, and the hard drive intermittently becomes unavailable. The machine boots great, runs great, then all of a sudden the machine acts like the drive is not available. Errors writing to disk, etc, before the machine hangs. An instant reboot doesn't help. I swapped the drive and have the same behavior. I'm presuming it's the integrated controller, so that means swapping out the motherboard. Does anyone know what the form factor of the SX2850 is so I can pick up another?

SOURCE: Gateway DX4720 BIOS update

Your bios updates are here, If you are trying to overclock I do not believe that this can be accomplished with this particular board though.

SOURCE: gateway gt4016 won't boot. Fan runs but nothing else

Try a different CPU. and also try a completely different set of know good memory. If after this the system still doesn't boot up then then the motherboard they installed in defective and if that the case? Get your money back.

SOURCE: Gateway GT4022 Motherboard failed

Well, I think gateway is just a computer manufacturer, so if you are still under warranty, you could possibly get a replacement. But before doing anything, and if you are comfortable with doing so, open up the side of the casing, and take a look around, see if any cables seem unconnected.

SOURCE: Gateway Gt 5220 computer powers on but will not boot

I have the same system and have had this same problem 3 times! It is the motherboard. My system was under warranty and extended warranty in 2 of the cases. The motherboard was replaced both times and that did fix the problem. At this time, I am contemplated wheather to fix it a third time or buy a new system as I believe the problem is in the design.

I'm getting a message saying that my hard drive can't be found

this is an easy one, your hard drive has failed this is why it does not show up, I am suprised that you dont hear clicking noise when trying to access the drive. if you have another drive around try to connect that one just to see if you give different error message but I am %100 you have a failed drive, I used to work at gateway/Quanta and have serviced thousands of machines with the same problem, good luck

Can i replace the hard drive in my gateway zx6800

Yes, you can, but getting the zx6800 back cover off is a real pain. Does it boot to the Gateway screen? Tell me what happens when you boot. You may be able to do a system Recovery. take a look at this: http://gateway-us.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2631

Gateway mp8708 s/n t23691006485 showing disk error won't boot just shows disk error help me

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

My hp pavilion dv7-4285dx has lost everything, os and all. How can I get it to read the recovery disc I ordered from HP?

What makes you think you've lost everything? Unless you specifically instructed your computer to Format the hard drive, I would doubt very seriously that you have lost everything. Everything might still be there, but a virus has hidden it to make you think you've lost everything. Oh, one more way to lose everything is to interrupt a System Recovery before it completes, or interrupt an Fresh Install of Windows before it completes.

A lot of times the System will think you've lost everything because somehow a setting the bios was changed either by you or some virus and it has set the hard drive where it is not detectable. Turn your computer off then watch the screen to see which key you have to hit to get into the BIOS or SETUP or System Setup.

Once you are in the BIOS scroll through it looking for AHCI that will be associated with disk drives or disk controllers. If it is Enabled, Disable it and Boot your machine. If it is Disabled, Enable it and Boot your machine. In other words just change the settings for AHCI.

Do that and report back.

Gateway lx6200 power issues

Disconnect all hard drives or optical drives to see if it does the same thing. If it comes up begging for a system drive, your system hard drive probably has a corrupted boot sector that is redirecting to a restart instead of proceeding with startup. It wouldn't surprise me if it's also infected with a virus or a bunch of them.

I have a disk crash on an ASUS computer, 3 years old. The Disk is a SATA. How can I get my machine to boot ?

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Gateway GM4019E intermittent power up problem. At power up it seems to click a couple of times during ''Detecting Array'' then powers itself off never booting the OS. When I remove the sidecover it seems...

it could be a hard drive controller.

Or it could be a raid problem if that's what its looking for go into your bios and see if it finds your hard drives if not then it could be exactly that,
Not finding what you are looking for?
