If you have downgraded, it means you reformatted your hard drive and installed a new operating system.
Now you must go to Sony's site and download the drivers for the motherboard, as they are not included in Windows.
You should be able to find your model at this link:

You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key a few times. Getting the lenovo m500 dlp projector to work

Solved ....when it projects it says to push Fn and F7 simultaneously for Lenovo laptops. The symbol for the F7 on Lenovo is the computer screen and keyboard plus a screen with a line attaching. On the Toshiba it is the F5 key. Pressing the Fn and F5 keys on the Toshiba simultaneously gives 5 box choices, the middle is CRT and the correct one to transfer from computer screen to projector.

Computer used to work with projector, and now doesn't?

Have you tried pressing Fn F5? On my system (HP), by computer monitor goes dark when I connect the projector. Pressing (Function) FN F5 toggles the video between Computer Monitor, Projector, or Both.
Check the function settings for your computer. On my Compaq laptop at home, the video function is F4, so there may be different settings for your computer.
Good luck!
