SOURCE: Ts420 stihl cut off saw

the jets in the carburetor need to be cleaned out very well to operate this engine
the holes in the jets are very small and clog up easily with in a year or two

SOURCE: not getting spark when starting

[email protected] HI GRYDERT your problem could be your on, off switch. This might sound funny, but switch the on off switch real fast several times, then see if you havee fire. If not check your spark plug. If you have a n
ew one try it. If that don't work check the connection at the plug to be sure it is makiong contact with the plug. If all this does't work you will have to go inside to the coil. They don't usually go ba d but it could. But first check to be sure it isn't grounded at the small wire from the switch. Good Luck.

Check the boot between the carb and the cylinder, it could be an air leak. also check the compression. If the piston rings are damaged then it wont have the compression to pull the fuel through. Could also be a damaged fuel line, or plugged filter.

Rebuilt a Stihl TS400 concrete saw, and now it wont cut, the engine dies down and has no power but revs up? Ive tried everything!

All these people are missing a basic thing: check the compression. If you did all thus work yourself, you may have reused the head gasket or not installed the new one correctly. It will run with no load, but once force in exerted, the pressure finds the leak and exploits it. There is a reason 2-cycle engines run at 130-160 psi normally.

I have a stihl saw ts400 change plug ands air filters but wont start please can you help

Check the compression, these machines work in very harsh conditions, as a compression test you should be getting a good 120 psi.

TS400 has problem drawing fuel on inital start of the day 14plus pulls. fuel must be returning to tank leak back. as it starts usually first pull after inital start.

You could be flooding out the unit, and then starting it after it is flooded. This could be the reason that it is so hard to start. The maximum amount of pulls on choke should be only 3, then move it to the next setting. This should help to make it easier to start. If the unit runs ok after it is started then this is most likely the reason why it is so hard to start. Let me know if this helps. You can click on the add comment button below and let me know. I hope this helps you out.
