Question about Dell E171FPb 17" TFT LCD Flat Panel Monitor
I have a E171FPb flat panel from dell. It's about 5 years old. At times it begins fading at the bottom. The fading moves up the screen. Then the screen begins turning solid blue at the bottom right corner. This too moves up the screen. However, if I turn the monitor off and right back on, the fading/blue screen is gone and everything looks great. This lasts about a couple of minutes then the fading starts again. Also, after using the computer for a while the fading just stops.
This sounds like a transistor issue concerning the ccfl lamps the power transistors are deteriorating and they will eventually go bad you can have them replaced and that should fix the issue. otherwise I would say have the capacitors that feed the ccfl's may be getting old and need replacement as well, its not something the average customer will want to do but if you have a service center that does electronic repair then that would be bst.
Hope this helps
