same problem...only i get @ 3hrs then it blows. so its the light engine?

I have the same problem...lamps blow after 10 min. I paid $90 to have an electronics repair shop look at it and they told me the light engine is bad...their estimate is $600 (parts & labor) PLUS I would need another new lamp at $150-$200. I am already almost $500 out of pocket (2 lamps plus repair estimate). I can't justify spending over $1200 to fix a tv I paid $1150 for. This all happened 2 months after the warranty expired. I've been round and round with Toshiba for 3 months and they will not stand behind their product. I offered to pay labor costs if they would supply the parts and they flat out refuse to help. They won't even provide the parts at a discount. If you search the net you will see that light engines have been a major problem for Toshiba. There were recalls in 2006/2007...wish I had known that earlier!!! I'll never buy a Toshiba product again.

Sounds like the light engine if it's blowing the lamps. Are you sure all cooling fans are operating?

How to reset the lamp: Using the FixYa seach engine, input "Lamp reset procedures for (your manufacturer)" and you should get the proper procedure.

usually when the lamp is going out the picture gets dark if you are getting a rainbow tint most likely the light engine is going bad.

Toshiba 56hm66 New lamp worked last night, wont boot up again

You now have a defective lamp ballast board. It sometimes is the root cause of lamp failures in these sets. The problem here is that Toshiba does not sell the ballast board independently from the larger, more expensive light engine assy. Call Best Buy back and get a servicer out there. He may have to take the ballast board out of your TV and send it out for rebuilding.
