Question about Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook

No boot disc

When i turn my acer 5315 on it states media test failure..no bootable device..inser boot disc and press any key...this did not come with a disc

    my grandson was transfeering music from zoom and this problem occured how can i fix this...this is a brand new computer that i bought him for xmas

    installed new hard drive in acer 5315,when i turned it on it said:media test failure..no bootable device..insert boot disc and press any key. Laptop did not come wit boot disc and cannot find one anywhere

    might be a hard drive failure... also if you have a disc in the cd rom... take it out

Yes bunnydawg could be indeed correct. Although also make sure you don't have a flash drive, external hard drive, or any CD/DVD left in the drive first. As they could try to boot from the device and fail (because they are not setup and formatted as bootable) and it will report the very same message.

    It sure sounds like your grandson used a memory card to transfer the music and it is still in the laptop. All you have to do is to remove it and it should boot up just fine.

    If not, then the MBR (main boot record) has somehow got removed from the hard drive (or the hard drive failed). A MBR is easy to fix for an experienced user. Although you need a boot disk to do this. Or remove the hard drive and create the MBR from another computer. You can Google MBR (or main boot record) on ways to do this. If you have other questions just ask.

When I turn on my laptop acer aspire 5552 the screen is black it says media test failure, check cable, cable is ok, it also says existing broad com PXE ROM, no bootable device -- insert disc & PRESS...
#1. Verify there are no disks in the floppy or CD drive.

#2. Get into the BIOS and set everything to default.

#3. Have a friend create a boot disk for you or, if you have a program that is self booting, use that to get in.(i.e. Windows)

I got my acer aspire 5552 laptop with windows 7 in 2011 2nd hand, worked fine until recently, I'd been on it for ages when it froze, I managed to shut it down but when I went to use it again all I got...

When I turn on my acer 5115 it says no bootable
it is possible that there is a mistake in somewhere in BIOS. when booting go to BIOS, and look for booting devices. As a primary booting device should be your HDD, or ODD first and HDD second.
apply these changes and see if the problem is fixed.
if it isn't, it is very likely that your HDD is not working anymore

My acer aspire 5315 is stuck n i have no disk to reformat
the computer can't detect the hard drive to start from it or, then theres a problem with your windows. Use the recovery discs or windows setup cd to try to install windows to the computer again to fix the problem. Let me know how that goes. Thanks

Comp won't boot
This could also happen if the hard drive is dead and trying to boot the next item or the BIOS has the Netboot option set as the first boot device.

Jump into your BIOS and make sure that the boot order is CDROM then USB then HDD. Then try again. Let us know what happens.

Sounds like you wiped out the harddrive try reinstalling the os if that does not work you may ned a new harddrive

My laptop wont go to desktop on startup.
Here is what you need to do
1. Power on the machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the “Alt” key and press the “F10” key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, you can cancel the process and now your laptop should boot normally or you can click “Restore to Factory Default Settings”
4. Click “OK” to continue .
5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6. Once eRecovery has run, press “OK” to reboot unit
