I have a Zanussi ZX99/5SI that trips the electric in the house every 7-8 hours. I suspect that the defrost element is faulty (earthing) is there any way I can prove this ?

What would cause my Maytag MSD2432GRW fridge to trip the breaker? I have narrowed it down to either the defrost thermostat, the defrost heater, or the adaptive defrost. How would I check each of these

It is more than likely your power supply that steps down you your 120V to 24V. This is usually located right rear bottom inside of your fridge but locations vary.

Fridge compartment constantly icing up in one area... suspect fan to be the problem, also when compressor starts RCD sometimes trips! can you help?

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model may also be termination switch inline with element

Refrigerator trips the aerth leakage in house every 45 min - 1 ho

Problem solved. The drain pipe from the frost free elements were blocked and caused a short to earth when defrosting cycle started and that caused the problem. when I opened the pipe the water drained and end of problem.

Fridge tripping the electricity

this sounds like the defrost heater is faulty. because at a certin time the m/c brings on the heater one every 24 hours that is why it is only tripping out at that time.

It sounds like the defrost element is faulty and is causing a leakage to earth when the unit comes onto defrost cycle. Check the defrost element in the freezer compartment behind a panel cover.

Refrigerator trips GFI outlet

unlikely to be the defrost timer. more likely to be the defrost element. try disconnecting the element and see if it trips then. could be of course a wiring fault - frayed wires etc
