Question about Televison & Video

My set would shut off then restart by itself after a few minutes.

I have a 1996 Panasonic CT-27G31U, chassis AEDP272
My set would shut off then restart by itself after a few minutes. After doing this a few times it quit altogether. The low voltage regulator and horizontal transistors were replace and it ran fine for over a year. Then it started going off and on again and then quit altogether. The capacitors and transistors were replaced and it ran for a few weeks and started the same routine. The third time the caps and transistors as well as the fly back were replaced. Again it lasted about a week and repeated the process. Now it is going on and off sometimes after 10 or 15 minutes or it may run for a few weeks. So far it has not quit altogether. The technician is uncertain what to do next. Has anyone experienced this or anyone have any suggestions as to what to try next?

I did not see any reference in the manual I was able to secure through the local public library. Parts replaced to no avail were a BA 2508D transister, an AS01 and RF3FS diode, a F04508F Transformer and four capacitors. No of these solved the problem The last part replaved with what should have been the most obvious was the relay. This was also about the cheapest part. The set has run since June without a problem.

I still have received no emails from you.

Hi,
I do not have service manual of this particular TV yet I can give you hint to check X-ray protection port that activates and turns TV down after few minutes operation.

Reason of this port activation can be devalue resistance in related circuit or over screen volts. X-Ray protection pin can be located on Horizontal / Vertical Osc (Jungle) drive IC.

If you have service manual copy in PDF file, you can email me at welcomejee@yahoo.com as attachment so I will be in better position to assist you.

Hit "add a comment" button for further query / info.
Thanks.

Suspect either bad solder connections somewhere or a issue in the power supply of the set----set will shut down for a number of reasons--it monitors voltages inside and if some go high or low it will shut down.

I have a panasonic tv, it is turning off by itself. Affter a few minutes it turns on by itself again, then turn off. What should I do?

Check the setup timer on the tv (sleep timer). Also check the remote control. There might also be a problem with the power supply. Plug it directly to the wall jack (check voltage). You should let this be checked up by a local electronics/video technician in your area.

Push the power button and the action button on the tv set until it shuts itself off and this will reset your tv. You cannot use the remote to reset...must use the actual tv buttons on the television set.

TV turnes its self off

Sounds like you have a bad solder connection. Since you had the back off can you slide the chassis out not forcing anything and may have to unplug a couple of plugs to get it out and turn the chassis upside down carefully and with a magnifying glass look for bad connections in the solder If you see obvious bad connections they can be soldered with rosin core solder and soldering iron used in electronics. Put the hot iron on the bad connection first to heat it up and then apply solder letting it flow over the connection. let cool and solidify. Hope this helps

My Panasonic TV

Many TVs, including some Panasonic models, have an Auto-OFF feature that will automatically turn the set off after a few minutes, if the TV thinks it is not receiving a video signal. By reinserting the coaxial cable, you are probably restarting the Auto-OFF timer inside the TV. There are several possible things that could cause the Auto-OFF to falsely activate. Try and change the coax cable going from the VCR to the TV, if you have a spare. If not, plug the cable from the cable box directly into the back of the TV. Make sure the TV is on the correct channel, usually Ch 3 or Ch 4. (Do not use the original cable that was running from the VCR to the TV, just in case it is intermittent.)
