I already tried everything suggested for Yahoo - still no luck. Maybe it is on his end - a problem with his set up???

I have a Logitech webcam/mike and am having huge problems with skype. Video in both directions is perfect and I can hear the other side clearly. But my voice is either audible or so crackly that I can't be understood. When I test my mike through control panel/sounds, by the way, there is enormous crackling too. Is this my toshiba lap top sound driver? It's a Legacy, but I can't find the company. .......Edgar

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: You audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are Hope this helps. Budconnected to.

My friend and I can see each other on Skype. She can hear me but I cannot hear her. Her microphone is not muted. Is there a switch on the Logitech Webcam to turn on her microphone?

I would check and make sure she has the latest Logitech drivers installed. Perhaps windows installed native (AKA generic) drivers when she initially installed her web-cam. Sometimes Mfgs suggest you install their software PRIOR to connecting the device via USB to avoid this problem.

I'd ask her to disconnect her device. Search online for latest drivers via Mfgs website ONLY. Install drivers then reconnect the device.

It may not work but its an idea.

Another thing to check would be mic settings under control panel. For some reason her device might not be set as the default device for audio input.

My friend and I both have a logitech webcam. She can hear me, but I cannot hear her.We both did the mirco/speaker test.Whos end would the problem be on? Thankyou,Deb

Hi Deb,

It could be either one of you.

Make sure you both have the latest updates for the webcam and for the graphics card drivers in your computer.

Exit from any other program using the webcam. e.g. if you are using Skype to chat with your friend then Exit from the logitech camera software before starting the video call.

Click Start > Run and type dxdiag then press OK. You should have at least DirectX 9.0C.

Does this help?

Do you have a microphone attached to your PC? They won't be able to hear you if you do not have a microphone attached to the pink plug on the back of your computer.
