I got some movies from my mom they have sound on her computer but not my laptop. I check to make sure nothing was muted and most of the movies are fine, we use the same player and I'm pretty sure we have the same sound card (my laptop is newer and has windows 7 while mom has vista) any ideas

Conexant High Definition Audio will fail when upgrading to Vista SP2. If that is what is running on your system then you do not have to reinstall the driver, just remove it from the device manager and restart the machine. It will re-detect the device and usually fix itself.

You need to install sound driver in order to get it worked with your new operating system. Installing MSUAA before installing sound driver may help (try using Win Vista sound driver). Go to this link to download:

Hi. Try plugging in an external speaker just to test the issue. It could be just the speaker of the laptop is having the problem. If you were able to hear the sound from the external speaker then the problem is the built in speaker of the computer. If there is no sound coming out to external speakers. Try to reinstall the driver of your soundcard.

I have a hp elitebook 6930p the sound is not fine. I mean the music is playing fine but the words spoken in songs and movies are not audible I don't know what to do

Laptop's are not known for there sound, the smaller the laptop the smaller the speakers are by design. That said, try different Media players with Equalizers, Real Player, VLC, etc. You can find freeware Media Players here: http://www.filehippo.com/ OR a External Speaker, I use the Bose Sound Dock: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/digital_music_systems/sounddock_systems/sounddock/index.jsp

I hear echo sound every time i play music/movie and i cant figure out to turn it off "how"

Does it happen with headphones in as well? If not, do you have a built-in-microphone? Sometimes the sound coming of the speakers can be picked up by the microphone, resulting in an echo sound. Make sure that the microphone is off (or test it by covering it up while playing some music), and quit out of any applications that are using it.
If you hear it in the headphones as well, it could be a sound card problem, which means it would need replacing. If you don't hear it in the headphones, but hear it in the speakers and don't have a mic, it's either your speakers, or (more likely) your computer just doesn't get along with whatever software you're using to play movies/music.

We want to wacth movie on d laptop, but we need dvd player to put inside, what will we do.

Since you've left out the make/model of the laptop, I'm going to assume it's a NetBook type that does not include a CD/DVD Drive internally, and has no space for one.
With this in mind, the only real choices you have are to watch the movies Streamed to your laptop via a service such as netflix, Copying the movie to a USB drive and viewing it from there, or getting an external DVD drive.

I want to record Turner Classic Movies from my cable to a dvd. I then want to edit out parts I don't want. Some movies are good but have just a few scenes that are not appropriate for family viewing....

The dvd recorder will not automatically edit out parts you don't want to see....the easiest way is to watch the movie live and if you know the part you don't want to record, press pause during the part and resume when it's done. Otherwise you will have to load the whole movie from dvd to your computer, get an editing software and cut out the scenes you don't want. There are lots of these simple programs on the market and some are even free.
Quickest way is to watch it real time and push pause on the objectionable parts.
Hope this helps.
