Question about NEC VT670 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Shows image but is completly yellow

Projector turns on fine but the image on the screen is completely yellow. I have checked all the setting and they seem to be fine, nothing different from any of the other projectors we have in the school district.

I had one with the same issue. After checking and rechecking the projector, I found that there was a lose conection between the CPU and the RGB output connection. It's really touchy.

Haze

Rather hard to properly diagnose this one off such a short description, but...

1/ Bulb OK, not over hours or otherwise damaged?
2/ Is it constant for all images, just a general coloured haze, not a strange "shadow", "ghost" or "fringe" that alters depending on what you display?
3/ Lens nice and clean?
4/ Surface you're projecting it onto also clean and at least nominally white?
5/ Input cables all fine at both ends and work correctly with other output devices (TV and/or computer monitor)?
6/ Haze still in place with different cables and input devices?
7/ Does the projector regularly show the same static image for extended periods?

The VT460s were buggers for suffering from internal LCD and filter glass issues if allowed to overheat, and with image burn-in, especially if fitted with unusual lenses (e.g. extreme short-throw); I've had to do internal cut-and-swap surgery on a few of them before, with donor image elements from projectors that died due to other problems. I can't say the one VT470 has shown any sign of similar, but the two VT480s are worse if anything. So it's entirely possible that we just got the one good VT470 out of the whole production run. As intimated by the above, it could be anything out of a failing bulb, dirty lens (or internal image element) glass, image burn-in, LCD/filter damage from overheating (and mind that being turned on showing a "blank" screen for ages can cause a similar effect, as all of the bulb's 200 watts of light energy is then being completely absorbed by three thumbnail-sized pieces of liquid crystal... the bulb doesn't turn off unless the projector is shut down completely!), problems with internal circuitry, dodgy cables, unsuitable projection surfaces, or problems with the devices feeding images to it. It really is a minefield until it can be narrowed down.

I have a Sanyo projector that shows a completely blue image - I can see the computer image but it is completely blue - Whet I press the menu button the normal colours come up for the menu

it sounds like the wire you are using to connect your PC to projector is bad

if color is normal when menu comes up then it is not projector unless the input for your PC is bad

i would try new cable first since that would be cheapest

do other sources in other inputs work???

All areas that should project white are yellow could this mean bulb is getting old or maybe the settings of the compoter its hooked upto need to be chnaged please advise

If the screen is getting more yellow, that is due to either an old bulb, not producing so much high frequency light, or the blue LCD imager is dirty/burnt or the mirrors require specialist cleaning.
Cleaning the LCD units and mirrors takes about 2 hours to complete including re converging.
Hope that gives you an idea.

most likely it is your cable. If a for sure brand new cable doesn't fix it it is most likely the main board. Also try flashing the software again.

Input Screen shows a permanent image

resolution issue. reset the settings to factory default. if that doesn't solve it, make sure the resolution on the projector matches what is on the computer. and it should take mac ok. also check the cable.
