Manuals are available (scanned) on the Lexmark website under the Publications button on the left hand side of the homepage. At the bottom of the Publications page is a pull down menu for IBM typewriters. Find your model on the pull down menu and it will bring up a PDF of the scanned copy. Sure beats buying one!

Letters don't show on paper no imprint on ribbon. keys sound like they are typing but nothing shows on paper

Chances are that the print head is not locked forward. This happens when the daisy wheel or either of the ribbons are replaced. Just push it forward until it clicks

IBM Wheelwriter 3 squeaks.

The squeaking is caused by lack of lubrication on the Platen (roller) bearings..the feed rolls that grip the platen or the linespace mechanism. Have to be careful on too much oil..I just put a drop on a corner of a piece of paper and touch what you want to will **** the oil right off the paper. a light oil like gun or sewing machine oil.
Hope this helps

Canon starwriter 400 won't print

Usually the problem is a plugged cartridge.
It is possible the ink cartridge is empty.
It would be best to buy another cartridge and try that first.

No print on paper

there is a pad on the solenoid, where it contacts the printhammer. this pad gets old and just falls apart. this will need to be taken to a repair shop to have the pad or solenoid replaced, or there is an adjustment screw that can be used to take up the slack caused by the missing pad. the printhead must be taken out of the machine to make this adjustment.

Punching holes

First change your typewheel they wear sometime to points. Second you could refinish or take it our and sand it down to get ride of the hard ridges on your platton (roller behind paper). third you could adjust the lever on top left moving platton back if it has one . fourth you could adjust the front rail down ( but be careful to get it straight across). fourth you could adjust the impression with 1 of 2 pots on the board usuly under keyboard.

Nakajima AE710 typewriter

The forms obviously have a glossy surface, a fabric or multi strike ribbon will work. There is a impression control oh the l. side of the keyboard and also a bold feature, try max impression and bold.

Typewriter troubles

First, the paper problem is most likely that your paper release lever is in the forward position, just click it back and you will find that the paper will stay in place and space upwards when carriage return is pressed. Make sure that the printing unit can move freely to both extremes of its travel when the machine is turned off. Lift the top cover up and move the print unit by hand, it will feel stiff but it will move. If all this is in place your problems are over....

Hammer doesn't strike

Try taking the wheel out and aliging it with the piece in the middle with a hole in it so that the pin and the wheel connect when you push the lever forward to connect the wheel to the disk.
