Hi.
The best way to find the screw or clip that is holding it is to take the tray out of the drawer and look on the inside of the drawer. You can see all the points where screws come through the drawer. Just find the one that is still holding on.

I had just replaced my ignition lock cylinder in my 92 Camaro Rs, and I'm under going several problems. Problem #1: My brand new ignition lock cylinder won't lock as to where the key cannot...

If all you did was to remove things down to the turn signal switch to allow access to the screw that holds the lock cylinder in, I would check the ignition switch for being out of adjustment. Do you have to turn the key a long way to get the engine to turn over? If you have to do that as well then go towards the bottom of the column. The switch is held on my two screws (5/16..maybe one a phillips screw). Loosen the screws and slide the switch. In your case with not turning back far enough to get the key out I would say slide the swicth down towards the firewall. The high/lowbeam dimmer swicth is also attached to part of the ignition switch.

Your clockspring not going in makes me think you don't have the rest together correctly. There should be a heavy spring, them the white plastic horn/ signal actuator that fits around the top of the spring, then the lock plate, THEN, there is a C clip. Just a round metal clip that is split. The lock plate needs to be pressed down, usually with a tool (I have used my thumbs and a budies help in the past) then that clip slides over the shaft and down into a grove to keep the lock plate down tight.
If that is not done then this could also be the reason why your column feels loose. Another reason for that is at times there are four Torx bolts that work themselves loose. If the column was tight before I would bet its the clip is not in the lock plate.

I have pictures of when I replaced my ignition lock in my 91 (same column) I don't know if I can post them here though.

You haven't finished in the previous mode before you turned the key. Turn the key back to where it was before the error and finish what you started in that mode. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ignition Lock cylinder set removal

Then you either got the wrong bolt, or the knob part is still in the hole. Take a close look at the bolt you took out, and see if something may have broken off it. If it did, you might be able to get the rest out with a magnet. There is a threadless part on the end of the bolt that's about an inch long. It goes down against the tumbler and hold it in there. The newer ones are a torx head, but i can't remember if 78 is or not.

Something is broken inside ignition switch housing.

The ignition crank shaft is broken inside the Steering Column Lock Assy. You will need to buy a new assy (cost appr. $202.21) and 2 steering lock bolts (cost appr. $4.96 ea) at a Toyota or Lexus dealer. Call either dealer for best price and availability. To replace you'll need to remove the black snap-on panel below speedometer then remove the screws securing the driver side dash. Behind the dash is a steel plate. Remove that and remove the steering column covers by turning the steering wheel to access the screws. You'll see that the SCLA is secured by 2 break-away bolt (this is an anti-theft feature). Use a dremel tool with cutting disc to make a notch in the screw head to remove with a flathead screwdriver. If this doesn't work your other option is to cut the bolts where the assy bolts together. Remove the broken SCLA and remove the key FOB and install into new SCLA. If your mechanically incline this should take about 2-3 hrs. and save you $300-400 in labor cost. Part numbers are same at Toyota and Lexus dealers.

Steering Column Lock Assy: 45280-60510

Steering Lock Bolt: 45897-12020 (need qty. 2)

My key broke in the switch can switch be saved

Yes, you need to remove the steering wheel and the wheel lock collar then remove the signal switch plate.....on the left side of the steering shaft there is a single screw remove it and the ignition switch will slide out(you may need to rotate the switch to the run position.)then you should be able to push the broken part of the key out..........you may need to drill a small hole in the bottom of the cylinder and use a small screw driver to push the broken key out
hope this helps.....Good Luck!

When the front door is open, it locks the 4 cartridges so they can not move. The tab is flimsy & I broke mine on the second or third change. It pushes on a mechanical switch just above the toner port. If you broke the tip of the tab off, you can use a drywall screw inserted into the Mechanical switch. when the door closes the bigger part of the tab will push the screw against the switch,
