    Hello kinex2002,

When you say "hi speed", do you mean the utilization is high? In task manager? If so what process(es) are using the resources. If you need help with discovering that let me know.

    Regards,
    Dave

Try ctrl, alt, down arrow all at the same time. If this doesn't slow it down, this is the only speed your system is designed to run at. Some systems allow changes, some don't.

How can i tell whats my hard drive speed and processor speed? What is largest video card that i can put in it? Is pci. or pci express better? HP Compaq Presario SR1630NX PC Desktop

Hi there!

For the processor speed, you can go to My Computer, on the left side you can see VIEW SYSTEM INFORMATION. When you click on it, it will tell you General Information about your machine including the processor speed.

On the hard drive speed and all other things you want to know about your machine, I said you download an PC Audit software like Belarc. It is free.

You can download it here.

Hope this helps.

Why would one turn " GPS Simulator" on or off ? What does this do for me?

hi, you didnt mention what model gps you have, but most gps simulation do the same thing. if you have the simulation activated (some models are on by default, others are off by default) once you put in an address for the gps to guide you, the gps (if in simulation mode) will show you the coarse you will be taken, before you start out.

so if your in NY and plot a coarse for California, it will show you moving along the plotted coarse...thats going to take quite a while to view since the simulation will move along at what ever the posted speed limit is along the route, so its kinda like watching grass grow unless it doesn't take much to amuse the person watching the simulation. it is quite handy in that it allows you to view turns and intersections ect ect ect before you ever get to them.

hope this makes sense...let me know if i need to explain it better, but if you turn on the simulation mode then enter an address, you'll see what i mean.

My laptop changes its speed...reduces its speed!!!

2.66 ghz. is much to hot a chip for any Laptop.
The reason, I,m sure you know is the cooing factor.
With a unit that high in speed and temp., you will need a support base with a cooling fan to keep the unit at a stable temp.
I have a HP that came with a AMD Turion 1.8 ghz dual core processor and changed mine to a 2.2 ghz.
Unit runs very fast but over heating is always a problem.
The support base I picked up was about $30.00USD
and I still have to keep my eye on the temp.
Hope this has helped.
P.S. You may want to stop at your local Radio Shack and get a can of compressed air and blow out the fan a grill section. all in one word VENTELATION

I have a small Cuisinart food processor and I cannot figure out how to turn it on. It has two levers low and high. I have it plugged in and the lid on? Please help. Fiona Slattery 858-752-8591

Hi,

Your PowerBlend Duet™ comes with a food processor button. This button is the perfect speed for all your food processing tasks. Always use this speed when using the food processor. You may also use the Pulse button with this function for pulse-chopping.
To use your food processor, make sure that the bowl is assembled properly and the blade or slicing/shredding disc and the cover are locked into place.
When you use the control panel, the LED will light next to each button you press.
Press the On button. For continuous operation, press the Food Processor button. Motor will start if you have followed assembly instructions.
To turn motor off, press the Food Processor button again or the Off button.
For on/off operation, called pulse-chopping or pulsing, press the On button, press the Pulse button, and then press and release the
Food Processor button the desired number of times. Motor runs as long as you hold the Food Processor button down. The motor stops when you release control switch. Try it a few times.
You control the duration and frequency of pulses by the length of time you hold the Food Processor button down and the rate at which you press it. Pulses should be short bursts. Allow enough time between pulses to let food in work bowl fall to bottom.
Always use the Food Processor button for pulse/chopping. Never turn cover back and forth to start and stop processor.

Processor speed loss

It's possible that the XP is using the extra resource or processor usage, and there isn't anything that you can do. However, It's also possible that this machine was configurated for 2000, and that it just needs drivers for XP. You can start by going to IBM's support site and doing a bios flash to the most recent bios, and checking for a chip set driver update, patch, or for for XP. Also check for any processor speed stepping drivers or updated drivers. Try this and let me know.

Is Intel Celeron processor speed ok for programming?

Hi,

Nothing much you can do with the speed but you can of course always add more memory. Additionally, you may want to streamline the startup programs to the barest minimum.

As to overheating, try a matching docking station with additional fan/blower.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Computer Speed

Today core 2 duo systems are on the top!
also a good think to look for is atleast 2GB or more of ram memory. If the laptop has vista then 2GB is minimum I recommend.

what will you use the pc for? Il know how to guide you better ones I know that since gameing and working require difrent things, or you could wind up paying too much for something you have no use for.
