Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, if you could post a photo of the display on your screen, diagnosis could be more detailed.

Offhand your described bending on top and doubling/tripling of image/color indicates a probable convergence issue if your unit is a rear projection subject to confirmation. If it could be confirmed to be a convergence issue, there are repair kits available online. One particular firm supplies these repair kits complete with the STK IC, resistors (if needed) and pico fuses and importantly repair instructions as well as the eventual alignment procedures. Should you go this route, pls look for slinteriors who is also a member of this site.

This of course would require opening the unit, perform voltage measurements, determine faulty component and subsequent part(s) replacement. Further, a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron would be required. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Good luck and kind regards.

This is a bad convergence circuit. you need a repair a cost will range aroun d 400.00 for a repairman to fix this. if you can solder and use a meter?? then you can open the unit and fix this.

Your unit uses a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) for each color.
Since you didn't say that it was a gradual change, I suspect the CRT filament has failed open rather than a slow death of internal emissions.

Considering the very high level of light asked of these CRTs, I am amazed they last as long as they do.

The replacement and almost certain necessity of initial alignment and color balance, this is beyond DIY possibility and is likely going to be fairly expensive.

After 5 years of use, the other CRTs are somewhat (if not a lot) degraded so don't be surprised when a tech advises replacing them all and I think it may not be a whole lot less expensive than replacing the set although looking at the specs for that set indicates it is not obsolete by any means.

This is a convergence problem. Given the short time frame, try resoldring the pins on the convergence ICs. This MAY resolve the problem. If not, the ICs will nede to be replaced. These ICs are the large black ICs attached to a heatsink that should be marked STKxxx.

Keep us posted.

My rear projection Mitsubishi TV all of the sudden

No, this is a convergence circuit problem. The cost of this repair is about $450. This is something that you can't do on your own. Call an Authorised Service Dealer and get estimate or buy new one . If you buy a new TV buy an extended WARRANTY because they are not as reliable as the OLD TV's.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Yellow image produced by DP8200x

the light filter on the blue lcd is fried and needs to be replaced. it makes sure only blue light comes therough that lcd panel. when it's light is blocked from coming through, only the red and green lights can be seen, hence the yellowness (red light+green light=yellow light). it's common with lcd projectors. unfortunately, you can't buy that piece seperately. you need to buy the entire optical engine, which isn't cheap (almost $2000).

Color convergence problem

If you follow the instructions on the other thread, you should be able to resolve the problem. Try the simple stuff first. Resolder the pins of the convergence ICs and see if that alone resolves the problem. Sometimes that is all it takes.

Yellow and blue on screen

I am slightly confused about the model of the television, because a 46F500 is a rear projection set that doesn't have a lamp. It has 3 picture tubes and I have a few of them in my shop right now that have the problem you reported. What we do to this set when it develops a convergence issue is to check each resistor around the convergence chips for discoloration, and replace any of them that have changed in value, along with the STK392-150 ic's. If you don't have an ohm meter and solder/desolder equiptment, you can usually get a shop to do this repair for 150.00 to 350.00. Parts will be 50.00 and labor , the rest, depending on the quality of repair shop that you use. Good luck, Russmann.

Picture separated on 1/2 of screen

This sounds like a convergence problem. This is a common problem that is usually fixed 98% of the time by re-placing the STK392-020 ic or STK392-110, and check the fuse devices on the covergence PCB. I'm sure the actual parts numbers depend on the peticular brand. Good Luck!
