The tray is for the DVD or CD itself, not for a label. The printer prints directly on the CD or DVD, you must use ink jet compatible blank disks, the white ones with no printing. You don't need a tray to print the label.
Did you follow the steps from the user manual for this printer to print to a CD/DVD label? do you have the user manual for this printer if not you can downlaod it from here http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01507549.pdf
An ink cartridge could be running out of ink or your ink cartridges require cleaning. Need to check ink levels, run the clean print cartridges utility and then print a diagnostic page.
Working through thesteps outlined at the link below will help you to diagnose your specific problem.
To check the ink levels from the HP Photosmart Software 1. In the HP Solution Center, click Settings, point to Print Settings, and then click Printer Toolbox. NOTE: You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Features tab, and then click the Printer Services button. The Printer Toolbox appears. 2. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. The estimated ink levels for the print cartridges appear.
Or
Print a self-test report 1. Load A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray. 2. Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the Start Copy Color button. The product prints a self-test report, which might indicate the source of the printing problem. 3. Make sure the test patterns show a complete grid and the thick color lines are complete. • If more than a few lines in a pattern are broken, this might indicate a problem with the nozzles. You might need to clean the print cartridges. • If the black line is missing, faded, streaked, or shows lines, this might indicate a problem with the black or photo print cartridge in the right slot. • If any of the color lines are missing, faded, streaked, or show lines, this might indicate a problem with the tri-color print cartridge in the left slot.

Did you try and change the ink cartridge mode from color + black to color, or vice versa? Another thing you can try is to "prime" the ink cartidges by taking them out of the printer and gently pressing on the print nossels to get the ink flowing, then put the cartridges back in the printer.
remove all the toner cartridges and then u need to clean the dirt collected in the printer.you can blow air with a blower machine.then shake the cartridges up side down for few minutes and then insert 1 by 1.it will work.
the problem is either the dirt/dust collected in the printer or the cartridges are got over and needs refilling or replacement.
hello babu,
the problem is not with the printer, problem is with your general knowledge, to print on cd/dvd surface means you have to stick the sticker (cd label sticker) on the cd, then put the cd on the printer to print.
ok
bye bye
hope u will soon understand......
It is because coping is not the best way to get a perfect copy on the printer, Try scanning with computer using black and white photo it will come out much better if you are doing a pic. then use color picture.
