We need to know the name of the device. Get into hardware manager and look at the properties of the sound device and tell us what it says.

    start>control panel>system>hardware tab>device manager

Can you downgrade from vista to xp on an acer t180?

Of course you can.
The only concern would be drivers, but all drivers that exist for Vista exist for XP as well. Just go to Acer's download page (link) and download all necessary drivers before you downgrade. (this is especially important for your Chipset and LAN drivers, so you have them handy when you reinstall.

The site is a little it confusing, but after you chose "Desktop -> Aspire -> Aspire T180", you will see a small drop-down menu, where you can choose your operating system and your language.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

I cannot install ethernet driver of hp compaq d530. Where can i find it?

Hello: I hope the following information is helpful.
If you are trying to install the driver for the Broadcom ethernet NIC that was pre-installed (NOT an ethernet card that you purchased and installed yourself), there is a softpack (updated driver installation) download available from HP/Compaq. It will install the driver automatically for you, just download it from the link below and run the ".exe" file.
IMPORTANT: Check to be sure that your current Operating System, and model of the network device you are trying to install, are BOTH listed below BEFORE you download!
This is a software / driver update for the HP Compaq d530 ultra-slim desktop: All Models
Supported network devices:

Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved). 2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.LINK where file can be downloaded:HP/Compaq Support-Broadcom Driver download
Again, I hope this information is what you neededto install your network device. Should this not answer your question, please come back, provide more details of your problem, and we will be happy to help!Best of luck to you!

Are certain restore disks interchangeable?

Unfortunately you cant use a vista restore disk for a XP operating system.

You could install vista on it and then use XP compatibility mode for whatever programs you want to run. Simply right click on the program and select the compatability tab..change to XP.

I wanted to changed my laptop from windows vista home premium to windows xp professional. So xp installed fine then i had a set of drivers for xp which i had downloaded for Lenovo 3000 N200 AFU, SO i ran...

Whenever you are using the basic installation CD for windows XP, it seems like it does not have the driver for your hard drive on this CD. if you go to:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67897.html

there is a walk through on how to do so and the driver to download. If this laptop does not have a USB floppy drive, you can also download all the drivers and use a program called Nlite that makes unattended installation's which you can copy the installation CD to your hard drive, put your windows key into the installation where you dont have to type it in, and put all drivers you need into the CD so that when it gets done installing you dont have any issues with no hard drive showing up, or have to install any drivers except for printers or scanners if you copied them all.

More ram and vdeo card

it sounds as if your MoBo is seeing the video adapter as a source of ram. if that is the case, then installing memory in units of 1Gb will cause a stick to not be seen, therefore utilized. you may want to refer to you manual for memory limits and poosible comparibility issues. they are usually quite in depth. also, make sure that they are all the same make model and speed. these issues have wreaked havoc on the prettiest of pc's.

I'm trying to installing my software ( resume maker edition career) the system is let me know this software is not compatible for window vista. can you help me let me know what kind of program I need to...

Hello

Microsoft had change backward compatability when it come to produce vista for end user, so most of the softwares developed for the earlier softwares did not run on windows vista, although i don't know which type of vista you are using, but vista home basic support some of the obselete softwares. Why not try to use vista home basic and see wheather you will succeed. Or I will say you download the softwares from the developers site which is compatible for vista OS.

Enjoy.

Need Drivers

Actually you need to install chipset drivers first then you shoud try for additiona PCI driver like external sound card.
Try one thing again, go to your www.acer.com site and search driver as per your "Service tag no." not for model no. and download drivers for 'Chipset' and others as per your requirement.

Thanks
