We need to know the name of the device. Get into hardware manager and look at the properties of the sound device and tell us what it says.

    start>control panel>system>hardware tab>device manager

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Hi there.
Your audio is "Conexant High-Definition Audio"

Download and install this driver and see if will work as HP don't supply a driver for XP
Post back if the driver does not work and don't forget to restart the laptop after installation >>>>>>

There are a lot of things that do not work on Vista that do work on XP. For that reason some of my client's have asked me to re-install XP so they would not have to upgrade their hardware and software programs. You could have the same problem.

No sound coming from laptop

did you have the laptop/notebook from new if so then you should have had a set-up disc containing all of the drivers needed to activate items such as modems, sound card, graffics card etc.
this is just a simple problem and can be rectified instantly by inserting set-up disc and loading all avaliable drivers!
if no disc avaliable then log onto the toshiba website and download the up to date drivers needed for your laptop/notebook
