Question about Philips SA6145 MP3 Player
Slideshow stops at .bmp image file and is completely frozen, cannot close it and would like to keep my files. If I reset do I loose everything?

Though you could see that the Philips is empty, we cannot say that it's completely empty. There could be some hidden files or the storage portion of the device is not working correctly.
First, check the available storage of your device to see if you have enough space to save or record a file. Next, try to record a voice that will not exceed to the available storage.
If you find the storage completely empty, but still you're having a trouble of saving a file, then you may need to reformat the storage portion of the device/player.
NOTE: Reformatting the device would lose every file including the program. I would suggest to contact the manufacturer and have them reformat your device, reload the program and upgrade the firmware of your Voice Tracer and that should work properly.

For the issue you described, I would attempt a Repair/Recovery - this process will restore your player to factory settings, as well as update the firmware in the process.
Try the Philips Device Manager software (found on the support site www.philips.com/support if you do not have your original software disc):
NOTE: Contents will be removed by using the repair function.
