Fill tube to ice maker is loose water coming in bottom of freezer

Are you sure water is coming from the ice maker fill tube? What is your model number? Water that usally fills the base of freezer is most times caused by a blocked defrost drain opening behind the rear panel inside your freezer. There are ice maker fill tubes that leak but this only requires replacing the dual water control valve that fits your model. Here is more about leaking refrigerators=> HERE I am pretty sure you are having a defrost drain blockage problem. Most defrost every eight hours and over a period of time the drain line that comes down from freezer into a cup like object top middle and back of the fresh food section. If blocked by gunk or ice you will see trails of liquid leaking down the rear wall of fresh food compartment until it reaches the crisper drawers. This is not always the same with every model as you may see frozen ice flowing down ther rear wall of freezers on side by sides. Here is an example Click here=> Whirlpool Leak Photo taken by TechnicianBrian He has been around a good bit and deserves credit for his contributions. Here is another way to make this look more si mple in clip below. TechnicianBrian.com And in this photo are several parts listed in photo group #1 were it is most likely running down the wall=> MagicChef CTB1921AR fresh food section. If you still have questions please ask and rate me if I was able to explain this well enough. Every refrigerator is made different so these are examples only. The key is to find if ice or just gunk has blocked you defrost drain. Unplug and then remove the rear panel in back of freezer. We need to see if the water is overflowing the condensate drain tray or if the blockage is in the turn the drain leads down back of your refrigerator. Much more on this page=> Leaking Refrigerators! This is a common tip so I will be placing this post and add as we go new ideas listed in Sea Breeze Tips Section. Very small amount of water leaks through the upper thermostat outer cover and drips down to the lower one. How can I stop the leak and how does that happen?

I would say the leak is coming from the top of the water heater somewhere running down behind the insulation and it looks like it's coming from the thermostat area.

I have a Whirlpool model # ET1CHEXVB00 refridgerator. I just (few minutes ago) replaced the ice maker valve because water was no longer getting to the icemaker. Very shortly after I plugged the...

Sounds like the fill tube at the ice maker is either out of alignment or has a crack in it.

The water supply line from the water inlet valve enters the rear of the freezer and releases the water into a large diameter fill tube. The fill tubes hangs above the fill cup which funnels the water into the ice mold. If the fill tube and fill cup are improperly aligned, water may spill out instead of going into the mold.

Water accumulated under crisoer drawers and leaking onto floor.

That water is coming from your freezer during the defrost cycle. Normally there is a drain in your freezer that goes to a cup in your refrigerator and through the back of your refrigerator through a drain tube which extends down to a drip pan. If this tube gets plugged up, water will overflow in the cup and leak at the back wall of your refrigerator and through the holes that lead to the crisper's floor area. If you can remove the cup and using a wire dislodge anything blocking the drain, clean the cup of any debris and check your freezer drain for any obstruction causing water backing up and leaking !

My fridge left a puddle of water in front of the freezer half, where could it be coming from?

I am going to assume you have a defrost condensate blockage in the rear of the freezer and behind the rear panel where the evaporator dreains condensate after each defros. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The answer to finding the cause of the leak is where we need to begin. Most start in the freezer section behind the rear panel where the defrost condensate is drained during defrost. Sometimes the drain hole freezes over and the water drains down into the freezer creating a large area of frozen water. Other times i happens as the water leaves the drain in the freezer and follows its path to the pan below your refrigerator2.gif to re evaporate into the air inside your home. If leaking inside the fresh food compartment then the cup behind the control panel may be over flowing and leaking down the back wall of the refrigerator and will need to be taken apart and cleaned to allow the water to continue down to the pan below the refrigerator. Sludge and dust or even ice may be blocking this line. Below is a link to a page that may help you resolve and fix this. Whirlpool Fridge makes a loud dripping sound all the time G56SHE

Erin,

The water you hear sounds like it's coming from the automatic defroster in the freezer compartment. It runs down a drain tube into the pan you describe under the fridge. The pan is heated and evaporates the water.

Just some possible explanations if you are hearing "lots" of water"

* You may be in a warmer, more humid climate
* The temperature and humidity in your dwelling is elevated
* The door gasket on the freezer may be leaking
* The freezer is too full
* The freezer door is not closing properly
* The freezer door is being left open for extended periods
* There is a problem with the defrost cycle

If you are hearing water running all the time, check the ice maker water line and fill valve (if you have an ice maker) - there could be a leak or other malfunction.

Fridge Leaking

the icemaker can overfill causing water to run over into the freezer
the fill cup on the back of the icemaker could be frozen letting the water overflow into the freezer

if the fill cup is not frozen then you need a modlue for the ice maker if it is whirlpool built, if ge or frigidaire design then replace the icemaker
