Question about Brooktrout Technology Brooktrout TR114 P2L Modem

Open Question

Brooktrout Tr114+P2L board in a RightFax server does not answer

2 port can send a fax just fine, but neither port will answer (even when attempting to dial the phone number from an outside line.
The RightFax server reports "Phone Line Problem", and you can hear one of those Special Info tones.
We can call the phone number of fax board internally, and it works just fine.
What do I need to do on this board and/or my ESI phone switch?

Does Your DSL filter work for any analog modem attempting to send a fax (via fax software) using a DSL phone line?

Hello, Thanks for allowing me to help.

Sending a FAx over a telephone using adsl can be tricky, using a filter will help but you might want to make sure your baud rates are low, TRY 9600 baud, if you get any higher then that your filter might not filter it out and thus confusing the adsl connection.

I know mine works fine, make sure your fax is plugged into the TELEPHONE side of the filter!

I use 9600kbps , I do not recommend going any higher then that.

If that does not work you going to need to try another filter, last but not least call the telephone company if you are loosing connection.

Thanks for the questions, I hope my answer was Very Helpful.

Regards

Would like to connect a fax but only port 1 or (tel 1) port 2 does not work, should i send back to comcast or reset modem

There is nothing wrong with your modem. Comcast charges extra for a second line. Depending on your model of fax machine, there should be both an input ond an output on the back of the fax machine. Plug the fax machine into line 1 on the modem. Then, plug your phone into the input on the back of the fax machine. If you fax does not have both in and out, then you can purchase a "Y" phone line adapter from your local electronics store.

ps. VoIP is a digital line... Facsimiles are analog signals... Sending analog signals over digital lines is not recomended. If you are wondering "why?" (and understand tech jargon) VoIP is sent via UDP, which is a connectionless protocol (does not retransmit dropped packets) Fax machines use TCP, which does resend dropped packets. This variance in Qualiy of Service sometimes cases strange activity such as both lines (sending and receiving) dropping connections, faxes taking a long time to transmit (due to constant resending loops), etc. It does work... kind of. I would just not assume that faxes made it to their destination until it gets confirmed.

I have a problem to send my e-mails

Your using outlook. It sucks. You are probably blocked on port 25. Go to Tools, accounts and change settings. Change setting to "server requires authentication" then go to advanced and change your port to 587.

I have Linksys modem no AM300.I try and send a fax and it will not go through Error report "NO Answer" BUT I know fax machine on other end is ok.Internet is ok.Can you help John

Even though you have internet, have you connected a phone line? Most fax machines/software rely on the phone line. I don't know how you are sending a fax. If you are sending a fax directly from an all-in-one, you'll need to connect the phone line to the back of that device. If you're sending a fax using a program on the computer, you'll need to connect the phone to the back of the computer.

You can temporarily disconnect your land-line phone and connect it to the all-in-one or computer. Just remember to reconnect it when you are done so you can receive phone calls.

I hope this helps!

Slow Fax Transmissions with USR V92 External fax modem

Its possible you've set your faxes to send in FINE resolution (200 dpi), I am not sure about MS Fax, but in WinFax you can select both Standard Resolution and Fine resolution as the default for sending faxes.
