Take a look at the wiring diagram to make sure of the sensor. They are usually buried behind some sheet metal.

You might also check that there may be a blown thermal fuse. It's a round, bullet shaped aluminum device about 1/2" long (~12mm), 1/8" diameter (~3.5 mm) that will be in the wiring harness. When they blow, they have to be replaced.

How good are you at electrical troubleshooting? I can lead you through the process if you want to troubleshoot.

  • Mark Egan May 11, 2010

Probably not, but did you check the the overload sensor did not trip? It has to be reset manually, and is usually located on the back of the oven.

Make sure you are closing the oven door to allow the element to get hot. Some ovens have a door sensor and will not allow the element to heat when the door is open.

If you have an Ohm meter, then test anything you feel is failed. No sense in replacing good parts.

I am surprised that there is no wiring diagram somewhere on the unit, like in the control head, or on the top or back (most units built in the U.S. over the past 30 years have them. Don't know about UK, which is where I assume you are.).

Let me know! The overload on the back should have a red reset button. The thermal fuse has to be replaced if it's failed, and normally when it fails, the control head will not work. It usually does not carry enough current to power the elements.

    Chris,

    Was the thermal fuse bad?

Our Neff U1421 double oven has a problem with tripping the main fuse when the main oven reaches 180 degrees. The oven is in manual mode not using the clock timer, can you throw any light on the proble

yes i know exactly whats wrong, one of your high accuracy temp sensors will have gone.
these tell the thermo what the sides & top of the oven temp is.
unscrew the oven from the base unit & pull it out, take the top off & you'll see them little round cylinder looking things with 2 wires coming off them(see link for pic) there screwed to the shell. the one that will have gone will no doubt have burn wires, or connections.
their sometimes called temp switch sensors

Tip

Common heating faults with Neff U1421 Double oven,

For all Free appliance repair videos visit our VIDEO TUTORIALS 1, If the Neff fan motor in the back of the oven is going round and the temperature light is on (normally little red light), but there is no heat then you will probably need a new oven element, these are generally very easy to fit and readily available from our website these can be tested with a electric meter.
To gain access to the NEFF element you will have to remove the back plate from inside the oven. Once removed you will see the fan and element, if you look closely at the element you will probably see a small hole burnt in it where it has blown. Sometimes however there is no evidence of a fault but the element is open circuit ie: broken inside the element casing, either way it will need replacing. Some elements will are fixed from inside the oven and some are held in place by nuts from the rear of the machine.
2, If your NEFF fan oven is getting warm but takes a very long time to cook or is burning the food more on one side than the other, then you need to check if your oven fan motor is working you will see the blade turning fast if it is ok. if the element is heating but the fan motor is not blowing the heat into the oven then you need To replace the oven fan motor is a little more expensive and a bit more involved.
3. If you have the opposite problem ie: your oven is over heating and burning everything then you will need to replace your NEFF oven thermostat
4, A quite common and easily overlooked answer is if your NEFF oven is not working at all ie: no heat and no fan then the chances are that someone has put the oven timer into AUTO mode, simply put oven back to MANUAL mode and all should be working again.

My Neff U1421 bottom oven has failed.

Probably the ring element. If the clock is flashing zeros or 8's the bottom oven will not operate but the top will. Make sure the clock is set (doesn't have to be the correct time, just not flashing) If the fan and light then work but no heat, defo the element part no 499003

Our 10 year old neff U1421 has just gone bang and has blown the fuse and left a white/grey film covering the complete inside of the oven. Is this repairable and if so, what part/s do I need?

sounds like the element has burned a hole through itself,, check with a local dealer for the element,, be sure to replace the contacts at the wires when replacing

Oven has stopped heating up

If the fan is working o/k, then it is almost certain to be the element that needs to be replaced
This is located at rear of oven compartment, behind removeable cover.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Neff U1410 main oven trips the main RCD. Occurs

I have a u1421 with the same problem! I notice the fan doesnt run too well, sometimes it doesnt run at all, needs a prod to get it running. I suspect with no fan, that the element gets far too hot, and then starts to leak to earth, tripping the RCD. I'm gonna try buying a new fan motor - you should ckeck if your fan is running full speed OK.
