Question about Samsung 215TW SyncMaster 21" LCD Monitor
I have a Samsung 215TW SyncMaster 21 inch Analog/Digital LCD monitor that flickers when I turn it on. The flickering slowly becomes less and less until after a 30-40 seconds the scren is perfectly normal. This also happens when I am away from the computer and the screen has gone to black... I press a key, the screen turns on and flickers for awhile then it's fine. The monitor is 1 year old and I have had no other problems with it.
Any idea what the problem is?
Its the capacitors on the backlight power supply. Samsung installed crappy ones and they blow up after a year or two. Change out the caps and you're good to go

The screen flicker is a common issue with this series of Samsung monitors that have been in use for several years. This is an indication that the capacitors in the power supply board are failing. The capacitors are used to filter and smooth out the voltages coming out of the power supply board and when they strt to fail they can't filter the power so the voltage varies and this causes the picture ti flicker. The problem will get worse over time until the monitor will not power up. The power supply board is easily repairable and here is a link to a service guide that shows how to dis-assemble the unit and what to look for and replace. The guide is for the 214T but the power supply board is the same NP-20 board.
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
