DVD recorders sometimes suffer a malfuction and locks you out. Think of it like a computer and press the reset button. This might be a combination of controls. Or one for a short period of time. Consult the user guide for more information. If in doubt switch the device off at the mains!

SOURCE: Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder VCR Combo DVD tray

There is typically a small rubber belt or plastic gear that goes between the tray motor and the tray. Most modern units have the plastic gear. I would bet that it is missing a tooth or stripped its teeth or possibly fell off completely. You should be able to manually push the drawer in. To open it, there should be a small hole near the tray into which you can push a straightened-out paper clip.

Good luck!

SOURCE: NB500mg1f won't play DVD, watched

Buy a cd/dvd lens cleaner they run about $8-$10 at the store. If that doesn't work the laser is probably bad.

SOURCE: Hello! I am trying to

You are probably using a disc format which is not compatible with this model unit. Try using DVD-R instead of DVD+R. That should eliminate your error - and work fine. Give it a try - at this stage it is most likely a set of incorrect DVD formats (you can keep any unrecorded/remaining DVD+R discs for your PC (if it supports them) and use them as data storage).

* Single layer DVD-R 4.7GB/120min/4-16X discs are relatively cheap in a spindle tub (25 or 50 discs) available everywhere. *

The good news is no repair costs at this stage.

How do I get the vcr/dvd player to comunicate with the tv

They don't "communicate". Communication implies bidirectional transfer of info. Your TV is just a monitor. You need to feed the VCR/DVD Recorder with what ever you want to record. The TV is just used to verify what you're recording and to watch it playback. Think about the direction of signal... ANT/CABLE ---> VCR ---> TV

How do i watch one programe while i record another????????????/

This depends on what source you are recording from and where you are watching it. You can Ex: Record from a Satellite, While watching a program from TV-Tuner normal broadcast. Still If you want only use SAT or Digital, then you can't change that source.
So it's what your using for source. How many outputs it can give you.

Installation

Are you talking about recording from the list? You might have to set the recorder to record chanel 3. I can't check it because my dvd recorder is broken. I haven't done it in a while, I remember going to list and telling tivo to record to vcr and recording chanel 3, but you can't watch tv till it's finished. If you are talking about a connection try an a/b switch. All I can say is experiment
