Set Up Secure Wireless Network in Windows 7

Your wireless network must be secured
You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.

You changed the network key.
Make sure that you will connect your computer to the router with the cable to change the wireless settings of the router.
Do not change the wireless settings of the router using the wireless computer.
open the set up page of the router and check the wireless settings.
Change the name of the wireless network also.
create a new network and try to connect to the new wireless network.]
I think you did not change the name of the network and your computer might be trying to connect to the same old network name with the old settings.

The router has a built-in web-server.
So, just connect your web-browser to that web-server,
select the correct page, and click PRINT.

If you router is already set up and you want to add a new computer, you don't need to run the set up CD for the router again.
If you want to add a new wireless device ( laptop or any other wireless device) to the network, then you should know all the wireless settings of the router. What wireless settings do you need to know ?
You should know the wireless network name ( SSID ), wireless channel and the wireless security password
( network key ). Once you get all the wireless settings of the router , you will need to connect to the wireless network on the computer. when you try to connect to the network , you will see your wireless network in the list. You just need to select your network and connect to it. If it is secured then you will need to enter the network key and you will be able to go online.
To check the wireless settings of the router , you will need to access the router set up page. On the set up page you will find all the wireless settings of the router.

Before connecting the X-box or play station or nintendo WII to the network, Make sure that you have all the wireless settings of the router.
if you don't know the wireless settings , then you will need to open the router set up to find the wireless settings.

Once you have all the wireless settings of the router, you are ready to connect the play station or the x-box to the wireless network.

Trouble connecting to the internet on X-box ,Play station or WII ?

You can try to reduce the MTU settings on the router. if the MTU on the router is set to 1500 then change the MTU to 1365.
Also you will need to open the ports on the router.
For WII port numbers are ==> 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, 443.
For XBOX port numbers are ==> 53, 80-88, 3074
For Play station port numbers are ==> 80, 443-447 ,5223, 3478-3479, 3658, 10070-10080.




X-BOX

On the x-box you will need to connect to the wireless network now.
Open the main Interface of the X-Box.

1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
2. Select Network Settings, Configure Network.
3. On the Basic Settings tab, select your wireless settings.
4. Select the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If your router isn't broadcasting your network's name, select Specify Unlisted Network and enter the name.
5. If your network has wireless security, enter your WEP or WPA key.
6. Try to connect to Xbox LIVE again.

Ok make sure the following is done:
Use the Linksys CD to do the network set up.
Set up the SSID in router settings.
Set up the admin password on the router.
Set up WEP encryption and an associated password.
Make sure in network settings that Vista networks type is set to 'Private'
