My name is Pamella Bennet and I own 2 Ionic Breezes. Both of them are malfuctioning. Whenever we turn them on they hiss. We have cleaned them thoughly, blown them out wth air, turn them upside down as the manual suggests. We have tried everything yet they still hiss. We have not been able to use them for over a month. We received these in April or May 2006 (order #P-2205990) and usually when they start hissing, we clean them and most of the time the hissing goes away after awhile. But now they won't quit.
Please tell me what my options are.

- I have 2 ionic breeze quadras about the same age 2006. 1 is hissing which I can see is the result of arcing at the top of the unit. Mine will turn itself off after 20-30 seconds. blades, wires squeaky clean... removed front and back grid, cleaned. blew out top.... still not working..... other one working fine. - mdcitrusSolution #1

I have the same problem. The one thing that I DID notice is that it seems to occur more often in winter. Thus, I attributed it to dryer air conditions--too much static electricity being the culprit. With the unit off, I sprayed a fine mist of water into the housing and that cured it for a (albeit-short) time. Best solution would be to increase the humidity via a humidifier...
