Re: I have power and sound but no picture for my 61HX70...
Hi and welcome to Fixya,
In most instances, there would be a
blinking LED light. The sequence and number of blinks actually
represent a particular error code. With the number/sequence known, then
what section or general area to begin the diagnosis would be pointed.
Pls post back number/sequence of blinks. Further, pls confirm if you are considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) amd stage of familiarity with electronic components & circuitry use and availability of a DVM/VOM and a soldering iron.

Unless you are absolutlyey sure that the value is correct on the resistor replacement I would put the original back in if it still checks good. I could not get you a Service Manual, but I do have a nice trouble shooting guide that I can send you. I just need your e mail.
You DO NOT have just a bulb in your set. You have the older style Projection TV with three picture tubes. It's a good possibility that you have a convergence issue that has blanked the raster and therefore you will not see a picture until the error is corrected. Have it looked at by a qualified technician.
Sounds like a resistor in the convergence circuits or covergence amp ICs them selves. Usually the ICs will distort the picture. My guess would be the flame proof resistors near the ICs 1 or 2 may be oen. Let me know if you need anything further.
IF you would like help diagnosing your set. Go to the enclosed link. They have the service manual for your set and offer unlimited chat support for only 10.99. Just click on your sets manufacturer and you will see your model. Then click on the contact us link and provide your email address and they will email your manual and instructions on how to obtain your support. I am one of their techs http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

Repair will require technical and mechanical
skills. The red convergence IC will need replacement, which will require the chassis to be removed. After IC change, alignment in the
servicer menu may be needed.Go slow--Remember,
above all else,do no harm. You have a great tv,so my suggestion is get a senior tech on this one.
If you have the ability to remove some of the
connectors to the main chassis & flip it over
so you can see the chassis from the bottom,
inspect the solder connections around the
power supply and near the high voltage..the
flyback area, you could have a cold , cracked solder joint or several of them due to age of the tv. Use a magnifer & bright light to try
& spot them, resolder & put the chassis back
together, see if this helped.
