It is the "internal cooling fan" that stays on.. When microwave door is shut, "internal cooling fan" blows and the turntables turns with no light. Turntable also turns if any buttons are pushed like time set, etc Light does not go on if buttons are pushed.

I have the same problem. I opened the door to put something in. The light got real bright and then went out. After that, light doesn't work and internal fan runs when the door is closed. Everything else seems to work, we just have to leave the door open to stop fan from running.

Technician said that when light blew, it shorted the control board. Need to replace light and control board. Is this true? Obviously we need to replace light, but from reading this thread, it appears we just need to replace relay, or possibly relay board. Any ideas

Same problem I have. My inside light has been out for a few months. Finally got around to replacing it. When I did, now the fan comes on and the light and turntable are also on when the door is shut. But a cup of water in there won't get hot.

Which fan is it, the internal cooling fan or the hood vent exhaust fan?

Also, when this happens, is the turntable turning?

    When I say internal
cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn
    on and off manually.

    I'm instead talking
about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you
    microwave.

Looking at the schematic in the service manual here, I would say relay RY6 on the small sub PCB (relay board) has shorted contacts.

That's the relay that runs both the fan and turntable.

It's possible that it may be a bad connection or driving component on that board, but in my experience, it's virtually always a stuck relay.

The part number on the relay as shown in the photo is hard to read, but it looks like "OJ-SH-112LM".

I should have one of these or I can point you to one if you want to contact me with the exact number.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

Ours does this from time to time. I simply disconnect the power for a few minutes, close the door, and reconnect the power. Sometimes have to repeat the process one or two times, but it eventually works.

Have a look at this. Hopefully it's the same problem and solution for you as it was for me. I did not expect it to work, but it did and I have had no problems since.

Fan continuously runs, have to leave door open

Check the door switches with digital meter, usually find one bad one. Set meter to ohms and test, some will be normally open and others closed, check with the door open and closed.

Khhc2090s trouble

The sensor errors are probably just from opening the door and interrupting the sensor cook cycle.

By the way, you should always press "Stop" before opening the door of a running microwave. Otherwise, the door switches will prematurely fail.

I would first check the door switches and their mounts. See this help file.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

GE Profile JE2160 - Just stopped working. Touch pad works, light goes on when door opens. When starting, timer counts down, can hear a relay click, but nothing (no fan, no turntable, no magnetron. Fuse...

Hi

If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work. You should check the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry and the circuit board for this kind of problems. But for that you will need a certified technician to help you make these repairs.

Every time I open the door to the microwave, it goes on automatically. Even if I press the button on the door, the microwave goes on. Should I just buy a new one, or is it an easy fix?

most likely the door latch assembly and or the door switch has failed... there are approx. 3 micro switches located where the door closes... these switches all operate items such as the cooling fan, timer, clock assembly etc... sounds like one of these micr switches have failed and will require getting inside to exam with a meter and check contuinity on close and open when switch is open...good luck to you...

My Dacor DMT2420 fan, light and turtable motor run continuously when the door is open. I have unplugged the unit to reset it with no help, another on-line forum expert suggested checking the door switches...

If the cooling fan, light and turntable run continuously when the door is open, but not when it is closed, your secondary interlock (bottom door switch) is shorted (always on).

Even if it's shorted, the actuator button (usually red) will still move up and down when you open and close the door.

It will need a new door switch.

See the service manual here. See our file on door switches here.
