Whirlpool Side by Side Water line cut at door hinge on bottom
How do I run a new line? I am unable to add an extension with a coupler, since there is no space for it. The only solution is to run a new polyethyline line from water dispenser behind the door down back through the hinge. Please help. I definitely do not want to shell out 200 of which i do not have!

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. You can replace the whole water line or cut out the broken section and use a coupler to connect the hose where you cut out the damaged section. You just push each end into the coupler and your done.
you can get the line or the coupler here http://www.repairclinic.com/Whirlpool-Refrigerator-Hose-Tube-Or-Fittings-Parts

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws. Covering the opening with a blanket will prevent the loss of cold in the freezer.
there should be a disconnect behind the kickplate under the door, also a disconnect for the wire harness too.don't cut anything,i've found people cut the wires and then had to replace the door for this.if for some reason there isn't a disconnect there remove the hose from the water valve but there's a disconnect there.pop off the kickplate and you should see it
I have this same model and problem. The water line may be frozen inside the freezer door. (the line enters at the bottom hinge area of the freezer door)
Shut the unit off and leave the freezer door open ( you will need to remove your stuff you want to save first)
Next disconnect the line coming out of the Freezer door near the bottom hinge (should be a quick disconnect coupler, you will need to remove the front air grill assy to allow access to the line/coupler) and lay the line out on the floor.
After thawing the water should run out the line leaving a small puddle on the floor. Reconnect the line, plug the unit back in and test your dispenser.
Although this method restored my water dispenser to working condition, other possible causes for this include the line freezing up in the refridgerator section, bad water valve, bad relay on the motherboard, that triggers the water valve, bad motherboard. Hope this helps.
if you have enough room left you can just cut out the hole and go to any hardware store and pick up a water line coupler and repair it....if it is too short or broke up inside the door then you need to remove the water/ice dispenser and pull the line through and run the new one down the track.
the water line runs thru the bottom hinge of the left side door and its covered up by a grille at the bottom at the front of the unit. and or the drain line is clogged up or frpozen in the freezer compartment. try these things and good luck.
on the right side door just take off the top hinge (three screws or bolts on the top of refrigerator) and lift the door off of the bottom hinge.
left door is the same but you have to disconnect the water line and electric line that goes to the door. the water line has a coupling behind the kick-plate on the bottom of the refrigerator. the water line then slides up thru the hinge( BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS SHORT LINE COMING OUT OF THE DOOR, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLACE)
unscrew the cover plates on the top door hinge there are quick connects for the elects and 3 bolts on the freezer side and just 3 bolts on the refg side before you removed the freezer door pull the kick plate and there is a water line quick connect you will need to disconnect it as the tube runs thru the hinge after the top bolts are out pull up on the door and it is off >>>Note: there are some small plastic washers on the hinge post make sure you dont lose them
The waterline comes out the lower door hinge. Unhook from coupler at bottom. Now go to the despencer and carefully take the cover off some have screws under drip plate or clipped which a flathead screw driver works nicely dont scratch finish. With proper water line usualy 1/8 size about 5foot long snake it down to the bottom hinge and rehook up. In some case if the tube gets kinked you may have to remove door to do it it. Usually pretty easy.
