Re: PS2 wont open.
I know exactly what your problem is, the motor inside your PS2 isn't running right anymore. It is burnt out. I recommend going to get a slim PS2 because to open it you have to press a button and it flips up like PS1. Hope this solves!
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

For slimline PS2:
try cleaning the lens with a Q-tip dipped in a little bit of rubbing alcohol (not dripping wet).
just touch the Q-tip to the lens and TWIRL it, don't press down on the lens, then use the other end of the Q-tip to dry it, again, gently twirl the Q-tip.
For original FAT PS2:
you'll have to open her up.
go here and go to the very end:
Hope this helps ;D
Check your disk for scratches fingerprints ect,, if thats all good step two try useing a lens cleaner
****(( tip and trick for scratched disks ))**** a crayon rubbed on the disk then wiped off with a lint free cloth no t-shirts dish towels that will just add more scratches remember start at the center wipeing out to the edge.
the best to do is the basics open your ps2 and inside open the disc box ( you can simply identify it it is the place where the disc is played) get a cotton buds and wipe gently and smoothly the lens. If still it won't work go to your nearest repair man for further advice.
