Post the manufacturer and model name of your motherboard/sound card here. Have you tried installing your audio driver for winxp?

Have you re-installed the sound card drivers? Even if the sound is onboard the motherboard you will need the driver disk or download the drivers for it.
It's possible that the vista drivers are not compatible with XP.

Hi,
You would have to find and install the sound drivers for your sound card, that compatible with windows xp.
If you are using an assemble PC , try looking for drivers on the motherboard manufacturer website.
If you are using a company fitted machine , look on the vendor website
If its a add on sound card , like creative, soundblaster or realtech, look for the on drivers on there specific websites.

Thanks
Proton

Need to know what Operating System you are using (ie Windows 7, Linux etc)

. . because it is possible that the drivers for that hardware simply do not exist OR, you have the wrong drivers installed.

Conexant sound driver cannot be installed

Make sure that your sound driver version is intended to run on your computer operating system or it supports your current operating system. Some drivers are limited only up to windows xp or win vista. You should get a driver that will run under your current operating system. Make sure also that the sound device on your computer bios is not disabled.

Hope this could help you a lot..:-) Thanks..

You might find it difficult to get hold of windows XP keys since Microsoft stopped selling it.
If you get on google and search for something called TinyXP (rev09). I think that this willl solve your problem.
