Try an image memory clear.

On the control panel hit
P * C *
66 - then the black and white Start Button
10 - then the black and white Start Button
Execute on the screen, then yes. Allow it some time to do it's thing, then it should reboot. If it doesnt reboot after a minute or two, reboot it manually with the hard power switch in the bottom left corner of the front cover area near the toner. Skelton Business Equipment Houston Copiers

We have a Garmin Nuvi 205W GPS. Was plugged into car outlet when it went to a black dot display. Nothing happened when blk dot was pressed. Now we can't get it to turn on at all.

Have you tried resetting the 205W. There is a reset button on the bottom of some of the units if not power off the unit and then hold the power button for about 10 seconds till it starts, it should go through a start up and then reboot itself. See page 42 of manual. I will attach a link to the manual, click here.
Thanks for using FixYa

Looking over at it says that your A30 can use PC2700 and PC3200 DDR. Maybe go other there and see if your new ram matches what they sell. I know it's not much but maybe a start.

My garmin nuvi 205 will only display a black screen with the word garmin on it. I have powercycled multiple times but that is all it will do

It may either need a screen reset, or a cpu reset.
To reset the screen, Push the upper left hand corner of the screen (under the pwer slide-switch), while you toggle the power switch on AND HOLD THAT SPOT FOR MORE THAN 15 seconds, or until you see a display that says to Calibrate the Screen.
If you get there, there will be a black dot to touch (with the back of a pen) different locations of the screen. This determines how it will react to your touches when operating.
(I did not know about this, and just used my finger to touch the dots. Well I could not see other pages later, and I thought the unit is broken).
Then shut it off, and reboot. The Garmin comes on with black background...loads the software...then the warning notice-Agree- to press.
If you cannot get either of these, your unit is not loading its software.
If your unit has a "Reset Button on the bottom of the unit" . Do not use sharp pointed objects.
If no Reset Button... lastly, Slide and HOLD On/Off switch to the left FOR 8-10 seconds.
Wait a bit, and try switching on again. All this is per their web site User Manual for the 200series.
Good luck.

White "press dot" screen

The actual answer is to press the dots, but use a dull plastic tool that fits "within" the dot. Otherwise the width of your finger is too imprecise to calibrate the dots and screen.

Hope you, and others, get this and try it. It works. I just discovered it and did it, successfully after only about 10 presses.

My garmin 760 screen reads "press dot".

All you need to do is use a ds pen (or something that is plastic and will fit within the black dot) - our fingers are to big for the calibration. Ive just fixed mine. It should correct its self within 10 dots and away you go again :)
