Why won't my 1996 nissan pickup start after changing the oil pump

Hi Bryan, I'm Al the owner of Big As Auto Repair

Bryan, If you changed the oil pump on your 1996 Nissan Pickup and it involved removing the timing chain then I would say you did not get the timing set back up correctly and hopefully you do not have the interference engine because if you do you possibly could have bent the valves in the head. This can be costly. Here's what I need to know. Did you remove the timing chain to do the oil pump? If you did send the engine size to my website below through "Contact Us" and I'll see if your engine is a interference engine. We may be able to work together and get you out of this mess. Have an awesome day Bryan! Auto Repair

My gas furnace and heat pump runs at the same time???

its likely the outside control unit board its supposed to only kick on gas only when the temp is at freezing..
or
the inside thermostat is not selected for heat pump, open it an look at the jumper / switch.
or just replace the thermostat , then return it saying you couldnt figure it out. :P
there are a lot more variables here after that you cant know how to check.

Installed a RTH2310B to replace an older model honeywell. All wires do not match. only 3 do r, w1, and g do and o and e do not. what should i do?

The Honeywell RTH2310B is a standard thermostat and is not compatible with a heat pump system. The terminals O and E are for a heat pump system. I am assuming that the terminals you described that do not match are from the old thermostat. What you will need to do is get a heat pump thermostat. Sometimes it can be hidden within a lot of other descriptions on the front of the box, but it will say heat pump and either 2 heat/1 cool or 2 heat/2cool. You should just need the 2 heat/1 cool heat pump thermostat. Hope this helps.

I have a Trane heat pump, model #TWP060C300A and a Trane air handler, model #TWE065E130A. Heat pump is 5.0 ton, split system. Air handler has a variable speed motor and a 20Kw 3-phase auxiliary heat strip....

Honeywell Chronotherm thermostats have always had a great reputation for longevity and reliability. They are also much more user-friendly than the other types of programmable thermostats out there. Make sure you get one that states 2-stage heat, heat pump. T8611G will offer that for you. There are many out there that claim to be suitable for heat pumps; however, they do not have the ability to utilize your auxiliary heat strips (2nd stage of heat).
Before you attempt to replace, be sure to write the wire colors and their corresponding terminal marking on a sheet of paper........of your old thermostat. This is very important to make it easier to hook up the new thermostat. Also, before you disconnect the wires, be sure to shut off the circuit breaker to your air handling unit. You can ensure you have the right one by putting the fan switch in "ON". When you turn off the right breaker, the fan will stop running. :-)

I hope you find this information to be very helpful to you. Please don't forget to leave a rating.

Just moved in. Trying to figure how to set thermostat so actual heat comes out. I have tried everything. Only cool air comes out and the House temp stays the same...Cold. Carrier Model No. FA4ANF048.

You have a problem both on the inside unit as well as the outside unit.
The outside unit is not coming on due to a failed contactor relay, bad capacitor or low refrigerant. The inside E-heat is not coming on because of a failed heat sequencer or limit switch.
If you have tools and a volt/ohm meter I could walk you through it.You would be dealing with live high voltage as well as low voltage.
If not.
The problem will require a local HVAC technician.

Want to replace manual thermostat with programmable.

you can use a 5 wire heat pump thermostat.

Must be heatpump thermostat
red is 24 volt power
white is aux/emergency heat these usually will need to be jumped together
Green is fan
yellow is compressor contactor
blue is reversing valve
you just don't have a common so some thermostats will not work.
get one with batteries
