Question about Panasonic PVQ-M2509 Combo

1 Answer

Blank Screen. TV is plugged in and running fine, occasionally the screen goes black and you get audio and when you change the channel you still see the numbers. Is this something fixable or just toss the tv and invest in another one. senacm

Re: Blank Screen.

Wow, thats quite a unique symptom. Usually on the Panasonics, when the screen goes blank it is because the vertical output IC has cracked solder joints, but in that case you will not see the channel numbers displayed on the screen. If you have good audio but see absolutely no picture but you do get channel numbers on the screen then there is a problem in the video circuits. The fact that you say it happens occasionally suggests that a solder joint has cracked loose somewhere in those video circuits and that should be an easy repair that should not cost too much money, so it is fixable and I would not toss the TV yet.

I cannot get a picture on any channel. Not hooked to cable. No antenna. What is the problem?

Most of the TV sets have " Picture Mute" feature which means; if no signal exists on either Antenna plug or on Video input (RCA jack) no picture at all.Blank audio as well..all MUTED..
to test it ,play a DVD ,you must have pictures and audio together..
Use an antenna ( even a piece of plain cable will work ) ,and run "search" ,you must receive some TV channels thru AIR.

I only Get Channel 3 and a blank screen that says LINE

Under the menu setup, set it to cable (not "air")and do the search again. If there is a button on your remote that says input, push that first before trying this. Might save you some unneeded steps. Good luck.

Black screen on avol combo type tv. model #ALTD1902M

The degasuss circuit is staying on. There is a coil of wire wrapped around the picture tube. Uplug it. The picture may or may not remain in proper color. Take it in for repair to be safe.

No display with DVD, VCR, or tuner

It sounds to me without knowing the model or type unit that you may need to unplug tv AND take batteries out of remote for a few seconds, replug and start over. Hope it helps
