HP PSC 1315 All-In-One InkJet Printer. Does it work with just one cartridge? I have just the black one and I don't want now to buy the colour one. Thanks.

Hello,

The printer will not initialize correctly with just one cartridge installed, both have to be present and not empty. Until the unit sees both cartridges install it will not print or scan.

Prints black text as dark blue, using tri-color cartridge instead of black cartridge

You will need to reconfigure the print head. Open the software for your printer and select align the print head, or a similar option. This worked for me on a similar printer.

Is there a way to print in b&W when the printer is telling me that I need to replace the color cartridge? It is a HP 1315

In some printers it is not possible to print without both catridges working. However, yours may not be one of them.
When you print, make sure you go into 'Print Properties' and scour the options until you find one that lets you select 'Black and White' only. Grayscale ususally uses the color cartridge, at which point, the printer will notify you that you need to change the cartridge.
If switching to pure black and white printing is not working for you, then yes, you do need a new cartridge.

HP 1315 printing real slow

If there are a compatiable black cartridge
replace this cartridge with your old empty cartridge and print a test page (don't mind about printing of black )
If speed is correct,
then replace the black cartridge with another new cartridge.
(some time compatiable black cartridge not work properly to flow ink)
