There is a fault, probably some part is jammed, or a control is malfunctioning.

Try tripping the circuit breaker and cutting power for ten minutes.

If you still get the fault the best thing is contacting the manufacturer.

Rega rding the model, the numbers you gave do not help, I need the model number, so that I can look for schematics for this model.

See: finding the model number on your appliance.

See here how to validate warranty, or buy an extension.

While I am trying to find the manual for this unit -

Does the hood retract by itself, or are you supposed to push it down?

I am unable to find a manual under the numbers given at the Thermador site. But, it looks like there may be a drive motor that raises and lowers the unit when you push the red button (and as I recall there is from when we were looking at these several years ago.).

The Model number should be something like UCVM36SS (the SS probably stands for stainless steel.).

If you can give me a better model number, I will try to provide additional information and instruction.

There is a spring on that button (spring is inside the button),
there might have been an autocut due to power overload.
check tham.

We have a viking cook top and the vent goes up and down but the fan does not always turn on ? Can you help

Hi,
Some units have a dead man switch, which means that if the filters are not in place correctly the blowers will not operate. Its a safety thing to prevent little ones from dropping toys into a running blower. Double check the filters placement, if the filters are in the proper location than I would look at the power to the blower unit. The vent has two jobs, (1) to raise and lower, (2) to turn on the blower unit once in the full up position. If this is not the case, the upper switch in the vent system has failed. If you already confused, you will need to call a Viking expert to correct this problem. Its not difficult but can be time consuming.
I hope this helps
I have seen this problem twice and found the filters were the problem, rarely replace blower motors..

My new home already has a hood vent for the range. I have a gas Jenn air downdraft range. I prefer to use the hood vent as the downdraft is not very efficient. Do I have to connect the blower on my range...

The poupose of either is to eliminate any smoke created by the range or grille and move as much of the cooking odors to the outside. I wouldn't use both at the same time, but if the hood is vented to the outside, it would be just fine to use only the hood. Aregular cleaning will be necesssary. The downdraft has limits as to the distance it will efficiently exhaust air. Flex hose should not be used. And excessive bends or vent length, cuts into the efficiency.

What is a bottom vented cooktop

There is a fan that sucks DOWN like a Jenn-Air cook top. There is no hood usually over such a stove. Usually the suction for the vent is between the burners. I think the air can be exhausted through a filter back into the room or to the out of doors.

The salesman didnt explain this to you???

I hpe this answers your question

Downdraft vent unit is stuck halfway.

You'll have to remove it and manually reverse the drive gear. Hopefully, it didn't get stripped.

Pinnacle Raised Vent System #RV36 or RV 46

Ours started doing the same thing. I got it to start working again by gently holding down the up/down button until it started to move. After doing this a few times it started working normally again. Also the keypad can be locked and unlocked by pressing the low and high buttons together for 1 second.

Vent Cleaning Problem

Hello.
Down drafts are one of the biggest pains in the neck to work on, because one has to get underneath the cook top, and remove the duct, then the blower motor, and then the cover that is over the part that goes up and down. That is if the contractor who put it in didn't build shelves around it or put a bunch of drawers in front of it. So there you have it. It is not easy to clean it. You have to be prepared to disassemble it and try and put it back together properly. One time a customer paid me to have me completely dissassemble the inside of her refrigerator because some bad fish had leaked into everything and she wanted to clean it. You could always do that.

Thermador Cook 'n' Vent Stove with stuck vent (model # SGCS304RS)

I just had a similar problem. The switch knob, and backer for the blower got jambed in the housing. After pulling it all apart I called the parts center at Thermador and ordered a new switch. If you can hear the motor the raises the unit run, then that could be your problem.

How do you get the inside area of the vent clean from the grease and oils where the filter is?? I have a rectangular box style downdraft that the vent goes into the floor, I pulled the filter, but the box is to slender to get an arm into to scrub the grease....... does the bottom come off, or is it a sealed unit? How do you get all the brease from the bottom if you cannot reach it?
