I posted this prob before & it was kindly suggested that I upgrade software from Philips' site: Unfortunately I have no way to load the sofware into the WACS- I obviously cannot use the (Philip's) suggested method of burning it to CD & then loading it....
Also, I contacted Philips & told the guy on the 'phone that I'd be quite happy to pay to have it repaired. He said they'd send me an estimate & arrange for pick-up if I was agreeable.....That was five weeks ago, still nothing from them I'm afraid.
Incidentally: Curry's- where I purchased the unit, were almost, but not quite, damned rude. If I didn't have their extended warrantee I could go f**k myself seemed to be the attitude as far as they were concerned. Well f**k them, they won't be getting any custom from me in the future!

Re: System does not physically accept CD into slot.
Unfortunately, in order to resolve this problem, a visual inspection of the unit is required. The unit must be partially dis-assembled to determine the problem. Where are you located? This should not be a complicated repair job. I will state that access to the mechanism can be a bit tricky, but overall, any shop with prior experience should be able to resolve this.
Please update this with your location and I'll try to point you to a reputable servicer in your area.
Re: System does not physically accept CD into slot.
I had the same problem and, embarrisingly, I got a friend's bithday present CD stuck in the slot. Cost me (so far) AU$53 to get the CD back and for them to tell me there is a problem with the drive and it needs replacing.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi, There might be an issue with the drive or with the OS of the system. I suggest you to first insert the OS CD and try to boot the CD. If the CD doesn't boot then its problem with the lens of the drive which should be replaced.
I had the same problem, i have now upgreaded the firmware off the philips site it was released in 2007 and mine had already been done but i did it again and it accepts the CD now, I just need to get it to read the whole cd content
Hi i have just been able to sort this problem, if your system says "NO CD" after it is inserted then the CD is not sitting right inside, solution for this is, join the philips club (free) and update the firmware and update the Gracenote software 1, insert the cd so it is in then turn it off and unplug then take another cd insert it in slowly to push the other one down a bit until it stops (may only move a couple of millimetres, you are only using the cd as it fits the slot so don’t try and insert it!!) plug the centre back in and turn the centre on, it will boot back up and eject the cd that’s still in, wait until it is fully booted and insert the cd again, that should work OR 2, insert the cd so it is in then turn it off and unplug then you can open the product and physically push the cd down (be careful when you take the lid off as the cd will not be fully slotted down and there are a couple of cables that can pop out but they are easy to put back and obvious) Put the lid back on and plug the centre back in and turn the centre on, it will boot back up and eject the cd that’s still in, wait until it is fully booted and insert the cd again, that should work any probs just mail back and ill help as much as i can

Grab the software from the Philips website www.usasupport.philips.com - since revamping the site recently, it looks like the original CD software may no longer be available, so load it by entering a slightly different model number - SA6087/37, for instance. click on Software and Drivers, and then "Device/Firmware Manager". After doing this, there is a firmware upgrade available through entering the correct model number of your device on the Philips website.
Crucial.com has a great scanner that will scan your system and tell you what kind of memory is installed and make suggestions as to compatible pieces. I actually buy from there, but even if you don't their scan tool works really well.
