You are right, the Guide Plus is transmitted to your tv over the air. If you have a cable company supplying your programs, your Guide Plus will not receive a signal to set up. You will need to get a two-way splitter. It has two connections on one side and one on the other. The side that has one connection goes to your tv. The side that has two connections will connect to your cable supplier and the other to a rabbit ear or outside antenna. Then the tv has to be off over night to restore your Guide Plus.

My good tv died.rcs guide plus is a loaner. thanks for answering. I thought this tv was newer.thanks for your time

RCS guide? Romanian Cable Service? I think you need to post the brand and model of TV you are inquiring about with a specific question to be more likely to get a response. However, I am guessing you meant to type RCA. Here is a link to a manual:

RCA Home Theater Premiere 36" TV comes on automatically

Only two possible reasons I can think of for this--

ONE: you have looked in the customer menu and there is no item listed as Timer?

TWO: Does THIS SET HAVE THE GUIDE PLUS LOGO ON THE FRONT OF THE SET? IF IT HAS THE GUIDE PLUS--YOU WILL FIND IT IN THE MENU ALSO---

LET me know if it has the guide plus feature and I can tell you how to end the problem--most of these the set will come on at the same odd time and usually with volume up high.

Rca tv my guide plus has quit working

The guide plus needs to reset itself over night. But as long as you are only connected to cable it will not allow for it to reset. You need a two way splitter the cable company signal will go in one side and the outside antenna or what ever you were connected to before cable will go on the other connector. The single side connector will go to the tv. Where the splitter says 'in' you will actually be using it as out to the tv. Where the splitter says 'out' you will be using as in for the cable and the other antenna. Guide Plus is built into your tv and needs the tv to be off to reset over night.

My Guide Plus does not work. When I try to program it it says "The search for data has failed'" My cable company has checked my reception and it is OK. I love my Guide Plus. What can I do??? My TV is a...

Mine stopped mid-
December. I used the old reliable 99999 as my zip code, turned off the tv for an hour, turned it back on, entered my correct zip code and was patient. Today, the 15th of January, it popped back up. I have a feeling that it is all due to the switch over. I think different cable companies are setting things up and the gude was lost during that time. Maybe if you are patient, it will pop back up also.

Guide Plus on RCA television

My guide quit working also on my RCA 61" big screen and I called the cable company and he said something about the encryption data had changed and I needed to call RCA to find out what to do and the whole time trying to sell me a converter box. It is the cable company's fault or the guide wouldn't have put that message up to start with. We all need to call the FCC!!!

Getting sound from DVD player but not a picture

Are you sure all cables are secure in the back and that all cables are in their appropriate place?

It could also be other variables dealing with the actual signal from the cable company. I have had an experience with an unshielded coax cable that was tweaking out due to a thunder storm.

Post back after you have checked all cables and also call your cable company to see if there are any problems with the broadcast currently, as that could be a cause.

Best of luck.

RCA TV won't change channels

Your set uses the 195 series chassis and you have something set wrong in your guide plus. Go into the TV's menu and do a complete set-up. Take the remote and press MENU, then "8" to enter setup, then press "1" for "begin setup now" and then press "1" for English, and so on. You must enter "set up guide plus+", then press OK on the remote to choose "setup", select "USA", enter your zip code, and then if you choose "yes" for "do you have cable?" you MUST then choose "no" for "do you have a cable box" If you choose "yes" for that choice, your tuner will lock on one channel no matter what channel you try entering. After choosing "no" for "do you have a cable box", choose "no" for "do you have a VCR?", exit the guide plus menu and then skip the rest of the steps by pressing "2", and then exit the main menu by pressing "0". Your channels will then work normally.
