This was a new phone I was using,& didn't realize I had voice mail on it. When it rang 2 times, it recorded the message before I answered on the 3rd. or 4th ring, giving me a dial tone. It is all fixed now.

Thank you

Power went out and we lost our custom announcement (our daughters when they were young !!) Just get the default..

The machine contains an internal battery, to keep things stored in memory. This battery will loose it's capacity over time. Keep in mind, that whenever there will be a powerfailure, the personal pre-recorded message will get lost.
If your machine is still in warranty-period, call customer-service and ask for a repair. If To repair this yourself, it's required to have some technical knowledge and skills about electronics. If you lack 1 or both of them, it's better to look for a new(er) machine.

But, no matter what you do, you've to accept the loss of the spoken message of your daughters.

1726 does not record messages

System will not record messages

When memory is full, saved messages must be deleted before new messages can be recorded.

If RO (announce only) is selected, no messages will be recorded.

Radio shack 43-3829 answering machine

Well, your machine might be broken, or you haven't set the little switch on the unit to ANS. The switch is on the side of the machine where the cables come out. But here are the instructions from the manual:

Recording Outgoing Messages:

Your answering machine has a built-in outgoing message, "Hello, please leave a message after the tone." You can use this message or record your own.

1. Hold the ANNC/DAY/<<, and speak clearly into the microphone, no more than 10 inches away.

2. Release the ANNC/DAY/<< when you finish. Your answering machine beeps and automatically plays back your recorded message.

*Your outgoing message must be between one and 60 seconds.

*If you record your won message but wish to revert to the pre-recorded message, press DELETE during playback of your outgoing message.

I have a GE digital Answering machine,Model # 29875GE1-B, Serial #3719KT. It records the number of calls, but when I press "play", it does not give the messages. Also I cannot get rid of the...

Looks like hardware issue. Maybe the keyboard doesn't work. The wire inside maybe broken.

Or power off and on again, try to reset the answering machine.

Greeting was somehow erased

Hi Sherrie, I am sorry to hear about your husband, I will do what I can to help. I am fairly confident on that model that if you push the greeting button, then delete it will erase the message for good. Also, if the memory power failed, then it would reset to the default greeting and erase all messages and greetings. However, if the unit has options for multiple greetings (ie. default greeting, greeting 1, greeting 2, etc., then perhaps the default greeting may have been selected, while your husbands greeting is still there but is recorded under say greeting number 1. If that is the case, you can select it to play his greeting instead of the default greeting to have it play. I would find out for you but my computer is having trouble opening the manual on the Panasonic site, so here is the link. Look under "greetings" in the index. Hope I helped. and replace cover.
2. Plug the telephone line cord (connected to the back of the TAD2012) into the modular wall

an extension cord.

Recording Your Personal Greeting
1. Press and hold down the GREETING control.
2. After the beep, speak towards the front of the base; you have 30 seconds.
3. When finished, release button. Your unit will play back your greeting and
reset to answer incoming calls.
4. Adjust volume control on the side of the unit to set the speaker to the desired level.

Select the Number of Rings
Choose 2,4 or TS (Toll Saver), which programs the number of rings that you want before your unit answers.

2. To hear your messages, press and release the PLAY control. Your unit will automatically
reset after messages are played.

To Save Your Messages
After the last message and 2 beep tones, press the STOP/SAVE control.

IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE OR IF ANSWERING SYSTEM IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY

If a power failure occurs or the plug comes out of the wall, your unit will shut down until the power is restored. One 9-volt battery must be installed to retain your personal greeting message and incoming messages during the power failure. Occasionally outside factors, such as power surges, may adversely affect the unit. If the unit is not operating properly or if the light continues to flash once power is restored, try these steps:
1. Unplug the AC adapter from the power outlet.
2. Remove the 9-volt battery. Replace with a fresh 9-volt battery.
3. Plug AC adapter back into power outlet.
4. When your unit is initially plugged in, it will check its memory for approximately 3 seconds.
Three deep tones will be heard if you attempt to record a greeting message before this
period.
5. Record a new greeting message.
