Cannot get computer started. Keeps asking for Boot media device

There are quite a few possibilities over here.
  1. the boot device might have got changed from harddisk to some other.
  2. the boot sector of the computer might have gone bad and needs repair.
Solution for the first one:
Try getting into the boot sector of the computer and change the boot order to Harddisk as first boot device and then CD ROM and then Floppy drive (if you have)

Solution for second one:
If its a Vista/Win7, then try starting the computer into the advanced boot menu.. then select Startup Repair.

Blue screen on dell svc tag:GSKTL1S.Ox000000ED,0x8734D9EO,0xC0000006 how to fix this error?

Fine..You have reached the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD)..common in Windows Operating Systems. Generally this must be a hardware problem. If parts liek RAM or bad sectors in Harddisk, such BSoD comes, indicating the crash of the OS. Try repairing XP using the cd. If not, go for a format so that the bad sectors in the Hard disk is repaired.

Thank you!

Won't restore

Is the laptop running hot? Perhaps you need to get a can of compressed air and clean it up. This is just a suggestion, since you seem to be getting a crash at different points. Hopefully it is just a heating problem. No doubt others here will have other suggestions.

My some what broken compaq evo n610c

Hi eco953,
I just recently faced the same problem. What I did was I boot up with my original Windows CD that do have repair option. After that if you're repair mode run CHKDSK /R ,this will check your harddrive and repair BAD sector.I didn't realise that I have a bad harddrive and when it read up to that sector it just crash and blue screen POP-UP.
Incase you don't have a Windows CD then the other choice is to remove this harddisk out and connect to other PC/Laptop and run software to check Harddisk fist.
Goodluck,takecare
