Unplug it from the power and computer.
let it sit for 30 minutes or over night. re-connect and see if that solves it.
How old is it? Do you have pets? is there allot of dust on it?

My motorola modem Ser. 37185236 stops working when it gets hot. when cooled down it operates normally. Is this a major or minor problem. Can it be fixed? It is a DSL modem connected to a single computer...

It may just need a simple cleaning with one of those compressed air cans. Make sure all the air vents are open and make sure that there is plenty of free air space around it as well. Use the compressed air can in all the vents to remove as much dust buildup as you can, if you can see how to open the case, you can blow it off better. should help keep it cool.

How to get drivers for the motorola sb 5100

Hey vwbest1970,

If you're looking for drivers for a Motorola SURFboard cable modem, you can generally find and download these by visiting the following webpage:

http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=blank

You'll probably want to click on the "Discontinued Products" icon, and then scroll down to the SB5100 about half-way down the list provided. Next to the picture of the modem, you should be able to find the owner's manuals and drivers for this device available for download.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
