Laptop Mousepad and Keyboard stuttering, slow

Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop
Windows XP Media Center Edition
2 years old
Reinstalled OS two months ago
never experience issue before

I've tried many things to solve this problem, but none have worked:
1. Boot in Diagnostic Mode (no apps, three services)
2. Ran AdAware
3. Ran HiJack This but not sure what to make of the log file it spit
4. Updated driver for mousepad
5. Task manager CPU usage is 1-2%

The issue occurs as soon as the sign-on screen. I've tried typing on the DOS screen as well (keys still lag). The only place the keyboard doesn't stutter is in BIOS mode.

This may be a battery power monitor issue. Try disabling the "Mircosoft ACPI- Compliant Control Method Battery" device. This is located in Control Panel-->System-->Hardware Tab-->Device Manager-->Batteries. Had similar problem with 2 Acer Aspire series laptops (diff models). 2 and 3 year old. Original batteries (both still hold charges for 1.5 hrs of normal usage). Running WinXP, one with SP2 and other had SP3. Both came in the last month with slow jerky TPAD function and nearly non responsive keyboard access. Checked the usual; virus, spyware, hijacking, driver conflict etc. Cloned drive and factory installed..still same problem with kb & mouse. However an external USB keyboard and mouse functioned normally (no lag). Noticed with Battery removed kb & mouse was normal. Finally found disabling ACPI control battery device resolved this issue while allowing laptop to run on either battery or AC.

Hi, I have reformatted the disk & reinstalled Windows XP home edition on my Dell Inspiron 1300 (passing it on to family), but function key(s) including disk drawer open and battery level no longer...

yeah sounds like a driver problem. I dont tinkj its the keyboard driver though as dell sometimes uses the main board drivers to control Function Elements..

Update the drivers from here.. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid&SystemID=INSPIRON1300/B130

Just update all while your at in in case your using a generic driver.

Hi, I bought an Inspiron E1405 Media Center Edition in '06 and it never really worked properly. I was never able to use the "media direct" button or any of the other feats. I thought came with? On top of...

Since XP was reinstalled and the HDD was not prepped with the Media Direct CD before XP install Media direct will not work. You can purchase a Dell Media Center CD on ebay for about $20
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=Dell+XP+Media+Center+Edition&_sacat=See-All-Categories
I also found a Media Direct CD for a Newer Model, so I'm not sure it would work on yours. Media Direct requires that the HDD be formatted with Media Direct and then the XP installation, Driveras and applications, then install of Media Direct SW. Once done in that manner, you should be able to boot to Media Direct to play a DVD (To be honest, I never found the Media Direct function that useful)

Possess dell inspiron 6000 centino wireless, need drivers and xp

You can contact Dell Technical Support and see if they will send you a new XP CD. All the drivers can be downloaded at Support.dell.com for that system. If you can't get Dell to replace the CD, try Ebay. Here is an Example:

Our Compaq Presario V6000 with XP Windows Medical Edition 2005 Serial # CNF6423GR6 has crashed due to a trojan virus that won't allow my computer to boot up anymore - just keeps kicking us out. We moved to...

Reinstall windows system is very easy to to operate but without having a Bootable Disk or that Windows XP Media Center Edition Disc, i think you have to buy a new one or Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition. It's in the market.
And also if you friends that are using any Compaq Presario which they have the WINDOWS CD. Borrow it to install in your LAPTOP.
At least XP Media Center Edition they use.
There is another options on how to put operating system on your laptop. To gather any information or to do at least we have any ideas how to get it.
No need for any Serial #. Genuine Windows Media Center Edition have it's own LICENSE or CD KEY.
Hope this might help you my idea. Good luck!

Laptop Mousepad and Keyboard stuttering, slow

Whenever that happens to me, at least to the mouse pad I restart my laptop and it fixes it...
If not then perhaps it's a hardware or software problem, maybe you could reinstall XP over again, or you could, as a last resort crack it open and see what's goin' on inside or have someone check it out for you (I wouldn't go that far though).
