Question about Heating & Cooling

Hitachi RAS-25CHA will not work after power supply -brown outage.

Has 240 volts at supply point of indoor unit but will not operate using remote or temporary switch.I unplugged and removed all circuit boards around supply connection area of the indoor unit for testing before i found no Hitachi agents are in our area of Australia.
I am an old retired electrician, so are there some basic tests i can be assisted through on finding faulty board & where a replacement could be sourced?
Many thanks ...JC. Hello, I have a Hitachi RAS-25CHA indoor unit. I have purchased a PCB board from Hitachi.
I now have no idea as to fit the new PCB board. There are 2 screws on the front of the unit. I have removed these, however I am unable to remove any of the plastic head covering.
Is there a step by step procedure to replace the PCB board? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. The heat this week is deadly!

Is the unit responding to remote instruction at all? It does sound like your board is gone. This is usually a capacitor (blue or green and round flat disc) on the pc board, and possibly one of the diodes (small black cylindrical shape with a white line on one side) Often it is the compressor drive relay (rectangular black box) on pc board. If however you have managed to find a replacement board. The plastic heads holding the pc board are released by using a small long nose pliers and pinching the bit sticking through the board. The rest is simply a matter of changing one wire at a time from old board to new board. Or a good method is just to take a snapshot with a camera to refer to regarding the wire positions.

Hi, I have Hitachi model: RAS 63CHA4/RAC 63CHA4 The indoor unit looks working for the fan function, but not for the other function. The fan on the outdoor unit looks not working. What is the problem?

Is your compressor is working? If so, check motor to rotate manually. If hard to remove, replace bearings or motor. If easy to rotate, replace capacitor.
If your total out door is not working, check for power in out door unit. If not communication error between indoor and out door, provided you keep in right setting. If so, replace your indoor PCB.Helpful?

Red blinking and ac not working

If the power "flickers" and unit fails but will restart once the breaker is reset, this sounds absolutley normal. It is a safety device that keeps the unit from burning up things due to improper power being supplied. As long as resetting puts it back into service with no issues, don't worry about it.

Short power outage yesterday- System is running, but is not cooling.

check for 240 volts at the contactor and 24 volts at the contactor coil from the indoor thermostat,if you have them then you have a bad compressor contactor that supplies 240 volts to the compressor

Hi. I have a failed indoor controler on a hitachi ducted aircon. mod ras-5hz. inverter. can I replace it with other type. Unit 15 yrs old and parts not available. What is the control voltage between indoor...

Hi, the control voltage to both indoor and outdoor will always be 24 volts AC. If this is a heat-pump unit, the high voltage to the indoor and outdoor will be the same, 208/ 230/ 240/ 277. If it is a split unit with a gas fired unit, the outdoor will be 208 or higher and the indoor will be 120volts AC. I'm sorry, you have the inducer motor, so it is gas! My mistake. Yes, always the gas furnace will be 120 volts AC and the remote condenser will always be 208 and higher. As far as replacing the inducer motor with a different kind, it will have to be the same voltage, 120, and amps, R.P.M's, 60hz, and made to pressurize and be able to vent Hot gases also. It must fit and operate like the old one. They should make a replacement universal motor to fit? Check with some of the wholesale houses on this and they can locate a motor to fit. Keep me updated on this please Don.

Hitachi RAS-25CHA will not work after power supply -brown outage.

Heya,
I am an ex warrenty agent for Hitachi in Western Australia and I will be able to take you through some tests if you want. But from the sounds of it I think that you will be up for a new indoor PCB as these are the most common things to go when there are power failures. If you would like me to go through it with you let me know. But first where abouts are you in Australia?

I got an indoor unit working on fan mode only...the compressor on the outdoor unit is not kicking in...even though there is power to it..iv checked the fuses on the pc board outdoors...any suggestions...

There are two different power voltages to these outdoor units. 24 volts in the control circuit and 230-240 volts for the compressor to operate. Checking the fuses as good does not insure that power is to the unit. You need to check the power with a volt meter.
