Question about Acer Aspire M1641-U1521A PC Desktop
I downgraded Acer M1641 from Vista home premium to Windows XP pro. I used nLite to slipstream and got the OS installed. Everything went fine except the audio (Realtek) driver. It does not install properly although I have tried different versions from 1.8 to 2.14 a few times. I have also tried cleaning the driver using “Driver Sweeper” and reinstall. I just keep getting error in the installation. Can some one let me have a hint of what propbably went wrong? Can it be the SP3 installed before that?
Its a driver incompatibility issue. Many hardware components designed for Vista are incompatible with XP. This means that the Realtek audio driver may be the Vista version. Also, some hardware has of yet no XP drivers, so your audio components were designed for Vista only.
While it may be possible to "force" the driver to work, it may involve a number of hacks to the Windows registry and other files.
