Dell 1710n Printer - All lights blinking and no response from printer

We have been on vacation for a week. The printer was in the off position and so was the power strip it was plugged in to. When we turned the printer on, all the lights came on and began to blink (Ready, toner low, replace drum, load/remove paper, paper jam, error, and continue); also the printer warmed up like normal. I checked for a paper jam, nothing. I held the continue button down, nothing. The toner was running low before we left so I tried a new cartridge, nothing. I can't find anyting about this type of problem in the troubleshooting guide. I have tried resetting the printer three times by turning it off and then back on. This is a wireless printer, the wireless adapter connected to the printer seems to be acting normal with all lights on steady. What do I need to do?

Ours started working again after I took out drum and manually rotated it. (the drum is the long green metal tube that is with your cartridge if you pull them out after opening the front of the printer. Blessings Jeff

push button on left side of Dell 1710 printer to open the front door and gently pull out the cartirdge and drum assembly - mannually turn the drum and reinsert - it should work after that - Jeff

Unfortunately I have this problem as well. Apparently this happens often, it is a system board failure. As person above mentioned - flash the eeprom on the printer's control panel, but I don't know how to do that and he didn't give instructions! Apparently a firmware can fix the problem, but you can not apply a firmware if all lights are blinking... Oh Dell, I hate you!

Thanks for the help on this. I ended up calling Dell...a few times. I got lucky and spoke with a person who could speak english very well. she logged on to my computer and tried to download a firmware fix. When she realized that the printer had to have a constant green light to upload the firmware she decided the only fix was to send me a new printer. The 'new' printer is a refurbished printer but it works!

I have seen the problem before and it is fixed by replacing the main board.

Here is a link to your printers manual. It has troubleshooting in it and explains what the error means when you see the picture of the sun with the ink drop & exclamation point blinking. It also has instructions on how to fix the error and stop the blinking.

The printer cant print it keeps showing "!" or

The blinking exclamation point means that the cover to the printer is not closed all the way. Try opening and closing the cover to get rid of this error. If there is another picture like an ink drop or a sun that is also blinking at the same time then the error can mean something different.

Here is a link to your manual for your printer that includes troubleshooting erorr codes:

Printer won't print documents. Green light on

Hmmm, try feeding a sheet of paper into the manual feed slot... you might have inadvertantly sent a Manual feed job, and the printer is waiting for a sheet to be fed by you.

Dell 1710n all the light on the printer is on and will not turn off

all the lights flashing means "Service Error". Likely the printers CPU. There is no fix for a service error. Sorry. :(

All the lights are flashing on the printer and I can't get them to go out in order for the printer to work. It's been working fine in the past.

When all the lights flash on this model of Dell printer it is considered a system error. This can mean alot of different things. You can get a secondary error code <even a third error code> to pin point the exact problem by double pressing quickly the continue button and noting the combination of lights that appear, flashing or constant. This needs to be done while the printer is erroring. Most generally it is a system board failure, but can be something else. The best way to narrow this down is to contact Dell Printer support.

Try resetting the error lights with a drum reset. With the power on and cartridge door open, press and hold the Cancel button until all lights flash in sequence. Release the button and close the door.
