Re: I have a Maytag MSD2454G and it will not cool or...
Has the refrigerator been moved lately, such as yesterday, and been sitting on its side? Refrigerators which have been moved in this manner, need to be put into place and left upright for a whole day before they can be plugged back in. If this is not the case, you may have to get a refrigerator repair technician to check the pump, and maybe recharge the coolant.

Most likely the condenser coil is dirty. It is under the fridge, clean it with a vacuum, or air pressure, blow it out outside it will ne dusty . There are two to three fans. One by the compressor, called a condenser fan. If it is a side by side, usually there is a fan in the freezer section, and one in the refrigerator section. All need to work. If all this is and the compressor is running then chances are the compressor has bad valves. Make sure there is no ice on the coils in the refrigerator and freezer coils. If there is ice you have a defrost problem, which can be fixed. If the compressor has bad valves, get a new refrigerator.
1. is light on in side when you open the door. If not check breakers or fuses. 2. Can you hear the compressor running. If not do you hear any clicking sounds. 3. If you hear clicking sounds, try putting a fan on compressor and unplug refrigerator. 4. Wait one hour. 5. plug back in. If compressor starts let it run and see if it cools, if it doesnt, call service man. 6. If it goes back to clicking, call a service man. try this and let me know if it helps.
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent
between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through
it.There is a flap you adjust with the
fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the
fridge temp ..
I've had the same problem and it is the thermister inside the freezer compartment. There is probably a ice build up there too. remove the 2 screws and check, you can fix this yourself and save $100 bucks.
my Matytag msd2456dew fridge fan is running, no ice bulid up on coils in freezer section, but no cold air to freeze anything in freezer section or cold air in fridge section. what can be the problem?
f the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running.
First, answer these questions:
Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.”
Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it.
Next, see if the compressor motor is running
The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.
If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:
The most likely fault is a problem with the defrost cycle. The most likely is the defrost heater which should be a solid bar which is located directly underneath the coil. If you are capable then you can generally unplug the connectors for the heater and check that you have a resistance across the ends if the heater is faulty it will be open circuit. If it is not open circuit then it could be the defrost sensor or defrost timer at fault. You can also generally tell if the heater is warped or cracked. Hope this is of some help.
